@Rosseau...

Got a mail today from DG, they will set me up for a download version [;)]

Is Omaha working good with W10? Because it shows up to Windows 8.

Get ready for a wild ride. I've developed a love/hate relationship with this game. I'm finally getting it and I'm clearing positions. I still have not won the first ten turns but I got 8 out of 10 positions last night. Then random events put Japanese units right back into two positions in the rear!

Then I start taking huge casualties. I still cannot really figure out CP's and garrisons the game won't always let me place them and they are not in enemy FOF so there might be a bug there or I'm doing something wrong.

Hmm, well I like a challenge, but then there could be a bug. Don´t have it yet, in process and on stand-by.

I hope we can use this thread to help learn the game. Victory for the First Wave scenario is as follows:

14.2 Victory Conditions
At the conclusion of Turn 10, determine if you win or lose the scenario. You
win if ten or more Japanese position hexes are secured by your forces. A
position is secure if all three of these requirements are met:
• the position hex is occupied by a US unit or garrison;
• all position hexes projecting a printed field of fire into that hex are also
occupied by US units or garrisons;
• US communication can be traced from the position.
You lose if you have not secured at least 10 Japanese position hexes.

This is super hard, as I read it just clearing the hex and moving through is not securing it. I have to have a unit in the hex. With so few units this is super hard and with only 3 actions per turn wasting one on just moving a units is hard too. Refresh my memory...The US did win this battle, right? [:D]

Nice description of this mysterious game...
Could you post some screenshots of the PC game because there isn't on their website and i can't buy something without having a look at it.
Thanks

I found this one. It's basically the broad game on top of a Window's engine. Sort of like Vassel only better.

That would be helpful I've watched YT on the board game, it's very good, but frustrating how the guy keeps losing track of things, forgetting steps and then moving units and forgetting to move them back...which is exactly why I switched from board games to PC. [:D]

Oh yeah tell me about it! [:D] But that can also happen with PC games...

These past day´s (including today), I have made/played 4 recording sessiones with "Guns of August" by Frank Hunter. Either I was interrrupted by external issues, and/or had issues with nVidia Shadowplay, or simply messed up with turn sequence (verbaly). Turn: Stratigic phase, Activation phase, Orders phase, all within 3 impulses in each turn which allow you to activate/recon and order. Each stratigic phase has it´s things that must/can be done aswell.

So you have to keep a good track of the turn sequence while you think of what strategy you will use, because activation points are very low. Alot of critical decisions to be made, great game BTW.

I look forward to your YT. I have so many questions. I'm not sure if this game is more luck than strategy. The Japanese get the most fortuitous cards. But if you effectively eliminate or disrupt them it stops them from activating regardless of the card they receive. Those units from the SNLF are hardcore and many can only be eliminated by close combat!

There is some naval support that are given by cards but no close air support which is disappointing.

All in all I give it a thumbs up.

This was before the update (v1.10), but I dont know how to shut/close it down! [:D]

Help menu, "shortcut keys" was not working. Game just went through it´s game cycles...

Any how, now to learn the darn thing! [8|]

Ok, a bit off-topic here but well worth it...

Over at Decision Games, if we look under there Vassal section...
https://shop.decisiongames.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=106

We will see the Vassal modules available, If we choose any of the modules we can download them (must have a account with DG). You will also see on the first page (link above) that there´s links for there e-rules were we will choose and download the rules for the module we downloaded (link when you check-out).

I suggest the below solitaire games:

- Night Fight (World at War #44).
- Green Berets: Vietnam (Modren War #18)*
- Kandahar (Modren War #21)*

*Follow instructions on the below link. Basicaly you copy/paste the last file and rename it as "New Game", then save (editor), uncheck all boxes as shown in image.

World at War E-Rules:

This image is from Night Fight, from what I have tried it needs no tweaking like the other two do...

The area I always have the hardest time with are the buildings next to the seawall that runs from the pier and to the right. Always lots of enemies and tanks that pounce on your feeble attempts.

Me too, I seem to be able to clear the Bird's Beak pretty well, the area left of the pier I can clear OK but everything right of the pier is a $hit show! [:@] I seem to never get units to land at Red 2 proper, they all drift into R1 or land closer to the pier and are practically in R3. So that big group of buildings is always full of guys.

It will be awhile before I upload a video of DDaT (next week if I can), quite some rules to read and Iam in the middle of the "Assault" series (GDW) right now, among other things.

I did find Stuka Joe´s video helpful as a start, paired with reading the rules...

I was watching this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zG1YutlOw3s

He did 28 tuns all on the board. [&o] I seriously don't think I could do it, it really seems like a tedious game to play on a board. The the PC doing all the Japanese turn it makes in playable for me at least.

At least I will because I hate to learn a games rules to later find out that the game is broken or not working as it should.

I have 1.11. Let me see with the guy I got it from if I can share it despite it not being official at DG yet. As far as I can tell, the difference is that some "SP Engineer" support functions have been added and streamlined to work more like the boardgame. Note that this comes in effect only later in the game.
