So I have Jagdtigers, Tigers, and hundreds of captured different T-34 models in the pool but the genius AI decides on one of the more obsolete tanks?

not the best tank but some were still in use by 1945. Tiger types don't fit into medium tank slots. The T-34s do but may not be preferred.
