VP total - GW

Post by jboldt007 »

Ok so finished first GW game (well previous one was just a training game) and here is score based on RAW 24.1.2, using the average scores from the table.

Germany: +5
Italy: +4
Japan: +4
Vichy: +3
China -1
CW: -2
Free France: -1
US: -8
USSR: -5

Clearly an axis win, despite the fact that Germany botched Barbarossa and Japan was nearly routed in China, and in 1945 the axis empires were crumbling - but too little too late. Clearly the allies have their work cut out for them. In this game I’m guessing they were too timid too early.

A normal Allied win is typically at least Italy incompletely conquered and either Japan or Germany conquered with the survivor having less than 10 objectives.

Italy should have been conquered in this game - misjudged how Vichy works... the eastern front was collapsing and Japan was
In peril although it’s navy had pulled off some major upsets. Denmark had been liberated and Copenhagen set up. But it was all too late.

Btw it seems tough for the US to break even based on 24.1.2. Liberated France would go to Free France I presume. Some of the Pacific objectives would just be bypassed as they were historically...

If you use bidding then bid low for US if you think it tough for them to reach the "Expected Total".

Right - playing solitaire it was more about hitting typical targets in 24.1.2 to judge how well
One is playing a particular nation

Could you post a picture showing which nation held which of the final victory points?

If the USA liberates Paris, they are awarded the objectives held by Free France, iirc?

I don't think that is accurate. Vichy objectives will count towards the installing major power, maybe you mixed that up?

If France gets liberated, Vichy France doesn't exist anymore. All territory held by Vichy France becomes controlled by the French.

Sure, but if Vichy should exist at game end, the Vichy objective (Marseilles and Dakar perhaps) count for the installing power (Germany). But the liberated French objectives count for France (usually played with the US .. so that should be the same tally anyways)
