What are you giving for Christmas?

Post by MrsWargamer »

Because if I had asked, what are you 'getting', well it would just be more talk of wargames :)

This year I'm hoping to start a tradition of mine. Sending 3 postcards to online friends. They're basically winter landscape scenes featuring a large fir tree in the centre portion of the painting that has been decorated.

As well as 7 other landscapes, 3 winter ones, to local friends and family.
I paint landscape art by the way.

Cost to me, about 20-30 bucks. Worth of the items, weeeeeeell based on other works I've sold, likely a couple of thousand bucks. Nice turn on investment :)

I just can't afford to buy more conventional presents.

What are you guys thinking of offering friends and family this year (presumes you do the Christmas thing).

next to nothing tbh, not a miser or tight, just aged 50 this year, most i know, like friends and family have almost everything and the things they maybe still want, i can't afford to offer, so i give myself, and spend it with them, not only at this time of year, but all through it and when ever wanted or needed, as money can't buy quality time spent together as a family.

Iam making a celtic-cross for my mother (woodcarving), and I bought a two volume´s edition of herbal plants of the area for my girfriend.

May I suggest you have a look at "ArtRage 5", and a Wabcom "Intuos" tablet or alike. I use ArtRage 4 and a Intuos Pro 4 (small) for my drawings. ArtRage is great, have a look on YT. It works wonders (realistic) for mixing "oil´s" and watercolors!

I have to many hobby´s [:)]

I'm giving my wife $5,000 to spend on clothing. The question is, will it be enough? [:D]

Also, a paid off mortgage, and the ability to retire when she wants too.

Very impressive looking software. But I prefer the old school method of mess and real brushes, real paint, and real canvasses :)
And if you mess up, no easy delete button. So when I finish a piece, its an accomplishment indeed.

So far I've picked up hand and foot massagers for my wife, with a few other items on that list and a car vacuum system for my
stepson (which is humorous because yesterday my grandson spilled a bowl of cereal in the back seat and he said that he wished
he had one). Need to get something for my daughter in law and books and toys for the grandson still.
was Will_L for a while.

I get rid of all my friends before the end of the year.
I tell adults that Christmas is for children.
I tell the children that Father Christmas is expensive for parents.
I do not want gifts, those who make it choose as if it was for them and my closets are full.
I always buy champagne for Christmas, like that or where I go I'm sure to drink fine.

That is always easy for me; What my sister texts me and says that she and her girls wants. Often when it comes to the girls, I think it might be "wants" and not wants though...

I've got SNES Nintendo Classic Mini for my sister and her family (husband & 3 kids)
Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for my brother
HTC Vive & new PC for myself [8D] total cost 4,5k € [X(]

And I still need to come up with something for my parents, grandmother, cousins, and coworkers, and I'm drawing blank...
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

Females are suckers for handmade.
Buy an adult colouring book. Colour some pages. Frame them. Presto, you've just made points with females at least. Mothers and grandmothers especially. The cost to you, likely under 10 for the entire process.

Mainly books. Some ITunes gift cards.
Nintendo Switch and some dvds to my son.
My daughter has just received a new MacBook Pro (she is graduating as Engineer), and a plane trip to Wien to meet her boyfriend for the New Year (he is currently studying in Prague as an Erasmus fellow - just remembered I have nothing yet for him...[X(]), so for her it’s done.
As for my wife we have long agreed to not exchange gifts anymore [:)]

What's sad though is when you can't think of anything to buy yourself in Matrixgames Store. [:(]

Now I'm sure some of you will come up with some great ideas. Right Warspite? [8|]

Yes. Please explain. The feather boa that Warspite1 got me last Christmas was simply stunning.
