Unfavorable/Wrong Silhouettes
Unfavorable and/or wrong silhouettes
Scenario: Berlin 1945
Yes, I'm petty.
But TOAW IV is that good, that even petty things immediately stand out. [;)]

RE: Unfavorable/Wrong Silhouettes
And I see the "ö" character is garbled in the "3/3 Möbelwagen SPAAG" field.
RE: Unfavorable/Wrong Silhouettes
That kinda looks like Wirbelwind and Mobelwagon? If they point the guns up, you won't be able to see them ?

RE: Unfavorable/Wrong Silhouettes
It could be easily fixed, with somebody (like Jo van der Pluym ) or others who can GIMP or Photoshop. I found this:

Somebody with a good knowledge can certainly make the attached into a yellow silhouette symbol, nein?

RE: Unfavorable/Wrong Silhouettes
I already asked Jo to have a look if he can somehow use those boardgames counters and make them small, yellow and integrate them. I am no GIMP Photoshop nerd, but I bet there are peeps out there who could do it in less than 15min.ORIGINAL: Templer

as this isn't a tech question i've asked for it to be moved back to main, as tech support is for errors and bugs, not wishlists or unknown features which can be found in the manual.

The use of wrong graphical representation is an error for me... [;)]ORIGINAL: zakblood

There is perhaps one technical issue here: the character "ö" that is garbled in the screenshot. (Templer did not mention it but I did in my first reply below his post.) One garbled character is hardly worth mentioning, but if it is a symptom of wider non-ASCII issues in the player interface then it may be worth noting.
There was also a non-ASCII issue in the installer and folder names in the Download error thread (here) but I don't know if the cause & solution there apply only to the installer, or also to garbled strings in the player interface such as here.
Please ignore if already noticed.
RE: Unfavorable/Wrong Silhouettes
yes it's a language issue one and is atm in the process of being sorted and fixed and ready to be included in the first game patch, so thanks for the added post, it's welcomed as i can now link the latest info from the developer on last know issues etc, but more will or could be added today, as what ever has been added and worked on over the weekend hasn't been inputted as yet
tm.asp?m=4379218
so is dated 19th etc, so once changed to today's date, it will be more up to date etc
thanks

RE: Unfavorable/Wrong Silhouettes
Ja, danke! I wasn't aware you are a GIMP guru, too! Because I suggested (see above) to 'snatch' some other silhouettes from boardgame counters.ORIGINAL: sPzAbt653

You got the equipment256.png posted already?

RE: Unfavorable/Wrong Silhouettes
I am definitely not a guru, but I have tinkered with some ruddy graphics for a few years now, so I have learned a few things.
I took your silhouette of the Wirbelwind and made it into what would look and fit in the file, and it looked virtually the same as the original [so Marc did a fine job with it, as expected]. So I changed directions and modified the stock file to have the shorter dual barrels. The thing is, it looks like there is one slot for all of the Tracked AA Weapons. I didn't look, but I bet a Crusader AAA now looks like a Wirbelwind !
Here is the file if you want it. After you unzip it to 'Documents/My Games/The Operational Art of War IV/'Graphics Override', please remove the 'M' from the end of the filename, otherwise it don't worky.

RE: Unfavorable/Wrong Silhouettes
Would it be possible to make the silhouettes bigger by 50%? And can normal pictures be used? I'd prefer to have coloured pictures instead of yellow silhouettes,
Plans are worthless, but planning is essential.
RE: Unfavorable/Wrong Silhouettes
They can't be larger due to pixel limitations, nor can pictures be used. They can be recolored, what color would you like ?
