19 August 1940

A massive diplomatic shuffle going on as nations reposition themselves to react to the American-Japanese alliance.

The Soviet Union is taking the chance to strengthen defenses. We are also disbanding whole commands, and shutting down obsolete units. The new relationship with Germany and Italy will allow for much less tension in the West.

Well, it appears the United Kingdom wants the American colonies back as the UK and America are in a state of war. Canadian forces have captured Buffalo and Boston and the Canadian navy has sunk several US navy subs off the Canadian coast. Now isn't that a turn of events, who saw that coming..... USA turn is now in drop box

Germany and Italy - after much agitating from the Americans - has joined GB/FR and the SU in order to stop the Japanese-American alliance. Naval supremacy for the world is at stake.

Short update and correction:

It was GB who declared war on USA and sunk US destroyers near the coast of Ireland where they had been on patrol to protect the British islands against German subs.

As surprize attack of Canadian forces against the New England states of USA caught US forces completely unprepared. USA was building up a powerful navy to defeat the Kreigsmarine in the Atlantic. USA was not yet prepared for a war on land. Bombers and dive bombers are few, medium tanks and guns as well. While soem divisions of marines were shipped across the Pacific the East coast was weakly defended by rifle infantry. Boston and Buffalo were overrun by two large infantry corps and a strong tank corps of Mathildas. Canada and GB must ahve prepared for long time for this surprize attack.

But response was quick. In the west marines landed north of Vancouver. This turn they captured the city and its supply center. US infantry landed surprizingly at Halifax where the Canadian navy and air force were based - without any protection by a garrison. The whole fleet (several cruisers and destroyers), that has just celebrated a small victory over US navy, and all fighters (40 fighters) were destroyed.

See it's mistakes like the one I just made by leaving my port unprotected that cost one too lose a war. I've already decided that Canada is a lost cause, but the Canadians will put up one heck of a fight. Now deciding where to strike next, or go on the defensive, but that doesn't win wars. Shame I didn't have enough time to build a much larger army in Canada.

LOL.... that would be great but it will be kind of hard for them to send reinforcements to Canada as long as the US controls the Atlantic, but one can hope.

Japan is completely confused by this change in diplomatic conditions. The only war Japan is currently fighting is the China/Japan war which has been effectively ongoing since the Boxer Rebellion. We seem to be allied or at peace with both sides in the USA/GB war. However this can change if someone declares war on us.

16 September 1940

Diplomatically things are beginning to settle a bit. The Soviet Union is at peace, and working at getting her forces shuffled to meet possible new threats.

The primary effect of the realignment on the USSR is the removal of the threat of a massive war in the west with Germany and Italy. We were ready to fight this battle if necessary, but it would have been a horrific struggle.

The USSR now has the access to the high seas which justifies a much greater investment in the Red Fleet. This will be a long term project.

Fighting continues in Canada, with US forces advancing. Canadian forces are moving into place in order to try and stop the American advance, but Canada will fall and well that is how it is. India is beefing up her air and land forces, but Indian intelligence has advised that Japanese forces are moving along the border. The British Government has issued a warning to Japan. The Home Islands are fortified and ready. USA turn is now in the drop box

USA flees from the German U-boats. Meanwhile the Wehrmacht will soon complete the total elimination of all USA forces in Africa.

USA turn is now in the drop box. Canada is still holding on. It seems the US is just building up for a big push. Nothing else happened as the UK is rebuilding her navy.
