Corps and Armies

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Corps and Armies

Post by Akmatov »

Obviously I'm coming to the game late, but still . . .

Is there some benefit that 10 Strength Armies have that 10 Strength Corps don't have?

If the answer is no, is it likely that a future patch with fix this oddity?

If you examine and compare the "Properties" of a Corp to an Army you will see that the Army has higher values in almost all the primary categories. So yes there is a benefit to having a 10 strength army rather than a 10 strength corp. But of course, the Army costs more MPP. So in planning your production you have to weigh the advantages of the Army against it's cost.

Check the unit stats. Armies have higher values.
These are taken into account with the combat calculations.
It's kinda like how Panzer General works.

It is all about what you can afford. If you do the analysis cheaper units have more power per MPP. Early in the game as Allies (Rus) you need lots of units and in my opinion, Corps are a better buy.

Corps are faster and not much worse than Armies on defense (except from air), but are much less powerful than Armies on the attack (which can also be a benefit defensively, e.g. counter-attacking a unit that has just moved next to the city being defended). I prefer to buy all Special Forces and Paratroop units first, before buying more Armies, though, as are more mobile and almost as strong, and have other useful abilities.
