you may check your Hiwi pool. there are plenty of Jobs available at the Wehrmacht and your "Headhunters" are going strong.:)

Plenty, not sûre.
Hiwis want to have fun with machine guns, 105mm artillety and tanks and all that are allowed for them is carrying crate of ammunitions and cooking.... Sad.

And i will petition Morvael in order that all german units with Hiwis have a +1 automatic detection level for soviet union, due to gossip from "not so motivated personals"

Very surprised with the result of this battle. What happened to the 24 000 men, 300 guns and 60 AFV left?

I was very surprised too and checked my looses count. It looks like i did not loose them but they were added to the transfert pool. Somewhat these men managed to escape, maybe by sea using the port.
I do not know if there is a special mecanism like that.

But they did not surrendered. It looks more like a shatter.

When I attacked the units, the hex southeast was under soviet control. They should have retreated instead of surrendering... except if they have a lot of amphibious tanks with a very long schnorkel [;)]

December 1942

Turn 81, 31th december 1942

1942 is over. It was a great year for the axis side. the lower Volga is under our control and we are 80 miles away from Guriev

Image

We gain some ground north of Stalingrad

Image

On the other side russian OOB in steadily increasing... bad news...

Image

But at the moment, the VP screen is fine. all but Baku and Sevatopol belongs to us and russian are far from Königsberg....

If you did get Guriev would that leave Baku isolated? I assume not as Baku is a supply source in its own right, and there are other ports off map even if not modelled in the game. But just wondered if known for certain?

Victory point side, my calculation show that if i took all german objectives including berlin end 1944 i could finish the game at around 40 000 points.

Baku IS a supply source ...
It's logical. Persia was used during WWII to send lend lease to USSR

I've never seen an AAR with "bitter end" setting reaching the end of the game.

That's pretty normal. I played 3 times as german till the end and, past spring 1944, you're asking several time this question: "is it worth to continue as game is over?"

Of course but even with an earlier end of the game, we may still be able to estimate final victory point count.

Give Stelteck some bows and arrows and a company of men and Stelteck would still be up for the fight. Probably think of an ingenious and novel way to do it as well!

Advancing is harder week after week. We are facing numerous Cav and Tank Corps and with the change of AP cost, rifle corps will grow up like mushrooms in autumn...

January 1943

Turn 82, 7th january 1943

Blizzard all over the russian front. We are lacking of men and trucks but we receive new generals... no comment

Image

In the South Guriev is an empty city and Stavka has gathered several units to deny free access to this City. Do we have reach our eastern max advance?

Image

North of Stalingrad, heavy fights to gain some square miles of snow...

We are some turns ahead of the AAR, I'm currently playing the 90th and below are the best romanians units, after move for some of them. With a NM of 55, they should earn some power

I had some free time today and read this AAR from the start. Very interesting and a real fighting spirit on both sides.

Rumanians units are annoying. I will have to reeducate them in the future extended soviet union.

Turn 83, 14th january 1943

Lots of tank corps between me and Guriev...

Image

Of course I cannot resist targeting such juicy preys. AFV losses are 8 to 1.

Image

Still advancing north of Elton...
