USSR : We watch the battles in Poland with interest. The Read Army does not anticipate war with the Axis any time soon.
France : We are beginning to see concentration of panzers, and the improvement in quality as the Luftwaffe upgrades equipment is evening the ratios of air combat.
Great Britain : The RAF is changing aircraft purchases. We will be in transition for some time.
USA : The US forces in Great Britain, concentrated in Manchester, is now at four divisions, two armored and two infantry. The USA will build this position up, giving the British people evidence of our friendship.
China : China built a chemical factory. We have enough troops to need one. Our deep reserves now include heavy tank 2.

The USSR continues to prepare for a possible war. We see Germans and Italians near our borders.
France and Poland continue to resist the German foe.
Great Britain retook Amsterdam, but we were not prepared to defend it. We did damage the Germans based there, and forced them out. The RAF raided taking some losses.
The United States continued to build up submarine forces in European waters, and land forces on the west coast of England. We are deeply unhappy with the Japanese incursion in Argentina.
China continues to produce armor, and to build offensive capable infantry.

May-1940

The two remaining Polish cities were surrounded. The German high command decided to blockade and starve both cities, as the Polish resistance is deeply impressive.
Amsterdam was took by an amphibious raid, but the enemy retreated. The city is again under German occupation and was reinforced to perevent another amphibious assault
The Luftwaffe took back air superiority from the allies, they have no planes able to fight our Bf-109F´s. The production of these aircraft was actually scaled back in order to allow for more tanks and bombers. Allied forces have heavy armour everywhere. Some Matildas and Char-B1´s are being destroyed by artillery and aircraft.
The modernization of Italian forces is going well, now the Duce is proud of his heavy tanks II and Re.2001´s
Japan did an alliance with Argentina, both countries have common interests in preserving theit national states from imperialist agression.
The war is China isn´t going well, for each Chinese we kill, ten more appear. Our losses are minimal...but....

The USSR has sent a small cruiser force to the Bight to observe naval operations.
The Poles bombard the encircling German troops. The French also use artillery to shake up the enemy.
Great Britain disagrees with the Luftwaffe analysis as the RAF is getting their tasks done, and killing Bf-109F in the process. It is not one-sided, we take losses, but we are supporting the troops. The Royal Navy had success in the Channel against U-boat wolf packs. The Royal Marines landed in northern Holland and badly hurt a convoy of Flak20 traveling to Amsterdam. In the Med and Asia the Empire is well prepared for hostilities.
The USN moved into the Channel to support the RN there. Attacks on the USN will lead to trouble between Germany and the US, possibly to hostilities.
China is taking losses and waits for the day when China can force the Japanese back.

The Soviet Union is confident . The Red Armed Forces can defend the country from foreseeable threats.
The Poles are defending Warsaw. Her pilots bravely challenged the Luftwaffe but were forced to abandon their aircraft. Most pilots survived and are heading through the porous German lines to join the RAF.
The British have taken Copenhagen, and the Baltic is open.
The USA has established a HQ in France.
China has reserves. This will help against the Japanese and their continuous attacks.

Recon reveals the U-boat forces of Germany are very strong. Germany is hardly weak, but can she continue to wage war alone?

22nd July 1940

USSR : the Soviet command structure is made up of frontal commands called Fronts, and one independent command. Armor is arranged in Mechanized Armies, each containing Tank Corps. The three mech armies have seven Tank Corps and some independent tank units. The Tank corps might be compared to a German panzer division. The Soviet formations are tank heavy rather than the little army that is a panzer division. There is also the Admiralty which commands naval units. Aircraft units are directly under Stavka. The Soviet Union considers itself well defended at present, but all three Axis powers have borders with the USSR.

France : the big news is the taking of Stuttgart and the threat to Munich that entails. The Germans do not seem to have a lot of reserves in this area, and may have to pull forces from the north, from Cologne and the Netherlands. French artillery had softened Stuttgart up, and last month the RAF struck there. The French B1-bis and S.35 had little difficulty evicting the Germans.

Great Britain : the RAF struck Amsterdam and the new Spitfire V dominated the Bf-109F. We found there were few Spitfire losses. Losses were however distributed among the naval fighters which have held the defense in the air, but they will be shifted back to the Fleet Air Arm now. In northern Brazil the 14th Armoured brushed aside a cavalry screen and is approaching Recife. The Royal Navy is exercising the big guns of battleships and cruisers, and the carrier force is doing ground support bombing. The Royal Navy also attacked the U-boats which were sent to interdict Copenhagen. The Swedes joining the Allies means Copenhagen has support to the north. The troops in Copenhagen broke out and took almost all of Denmark and are on the edge of Kiel. Kiel, like Munich will probably draw reinforcement.

United States : the USA now has six armored divisions in Europe. The US is at peace but is taking an active role. We do not expect the Germans will attack US forces as that would lead to a war the US is more than wiling to fight.

China : the two tank factories will be obvious to air observers, thus it can be said that the Chinese reserves are armor. They have not yet showed themselves on the line but are ready to counter Japanese thrusts. China is not a strong nation, but our growth in defensive capability is clear.

Indeed, Germany seems to be doomed, there is nothing able to stop the thousands of CharB1-bis and Churchill I. In the North, the Germans had some success against British Forces in Denmark, but Sweden now is on British side.
Italy declared war on allied powers, but the country is unprepared to fight the allies.
Japan took Hanchow and inflicted heavy losses in Chinese troops.

19 August 1940

USSR : The Soviet Union has nearly halted recruitment as the Red Army has adequate troops. With the Germans embroiled in the West we have sufficient defenses. We are building some specialized units.

France : The Poles punched a hole in the troops surrounding Warsaw and farm carts have refreshed the markets. France has begun to campaign in Spain and our armored forces have reached the outskirts of La Corunna. Forces in Stuttgart have pushed the Germans back and the rail connection between Munich and the north has been severed. We are only lightly patrolling this area, but have brought reinforcements forward for the next push.

Great Britain : The RAF struck south of Amsterdam and did serious damage. The loss of 16 Spit V was sad, but the Luftwaffe lost 32 Bf-109F. The RN destroyed every U-boat at sea that we could find. Carriers entered the Baltic to do a small air raid. More to come. Tangiers was captured reclosing the straits. Benghazi was attacked by sea and land. Troops pushed out of Istanbul and into Greece.

United States : We are at war and have attacked Italian possessions. The USN has sent significant aircraft to Gibraltar to support operations there. US armor is heading for Spain from north and south.

China : The Japanese were very active, and did push us out of Hangchow, but we used our heavy armor to attack with some success. These units performed well.

16 September 1940

Cooler temperatures mean winter war is coming. Do Fritz and Pierre have their woolen coats?

USSR : The Soviet Union is certainly ready, but their winter is not one to ignore. The Soviets are beginning to suspect they will not fight in this war, but watch out for the next one.

France : The French armor has pushed farther into Spain. Exertions there exhausted our fuel, so the Germans were not engaged. The Allies have put Italian Iberia into grave peril.

Great Britain : The RAF hit Barcelona hard. Benghazi fell to British armour. The Royal Navy sank Italian ships and subs where they found them. The army sortieing out of Turkey has taken all of Greece north of Athens. The forces in Gibraltar broke out and are within 2 hexes of linking with the French. The army withdrew to Copenhagen, and the Royal Marines have been pulled out of the front lines.

United States : The USN has a powerful presence in the western Med. The naval air component at Gibraltar struck Cadiz and then the US armor followed up. Cadiz is in trouble. In the Pacific the USN reduced Italian forces on Timor and Marines took the island. 3rd and 6th Armored divisions took La Coruna.

China : Our offensive forces attacked a powerful enemy formation and both sides took losses. Overall we did a bit better, but the Japanese are powerful.

USSR : All quiet.

France : Poland forces the besiegers back again. French troops pushed hard in Spain. They also destroyed a German position east of Stuttgart.

Great Britain : All detected U-boats are sunk. In the Med there are no known Italian ships floating. A massive RN operation against Messina did terrible damage. Great progress in Spain. Athens and Tirana captured.

USA : The US troops lack experience, but not will. They captured Valencia. Italian Iberia is in tatters.

China : Chinese armor forces the Japanese back.

11 November 1940

USSR : All quiet.

France : French troops pushed hard in Iberia again. We took the Chemical factory, Porto and Madrid with low losses. We also destroyed a German position north of Stuttgart.

Great Britain : We sank the U-boats at sea. In the Med we found a few warships and attacked them. The Swiss joined us, and pushed into Germany. We took Massawa. We cleaned up Greece, and pushed into Yugoslavia.

USA : The US troops attacked Lisbon, which will fall soon. We are moving with the British into Yugoslavia.

China : Chinese armor attacked again. The Japanese are building forts.

9 December 1940

USSR : All quiet.

France : French forces attacked the Germans defending the Chemical factory. We want this removed from Axis control.

Great Britain : We sank a few U-boats at sea. In the Med we think all Italian warships are sunk. We continued to move forward into Yugoslavia. Our fighter sweep on the French front was very successful. The Bf-109F has been defeated by the quantity and quality of the RAF.

USA : The US troops took Barcelona, which was the last position left to the Italians in Iberia. The whole Italian experiment in Spain and Portugal is over. We are moving with the British into Yugoslavia.

China : Chinese armor attacked again.

6 January 1941

USSR : All quiet.

France : French forces are moving from Spain toward Italian territory.

Great Britain : We sank a few U-boats at sea. We continued to move forward into Yugoslavia, capturing Split and Belgrade. We upgraded our weapon systems, and built a new factory.

USA : We are moving with the British into Yugoslavia. The USA forces are quite strong there. Soon Italy will have to respond with reinforcements.

China : Chinese armor attacked again. We built one more armor factory.

3 February 1941

USSR : All quiet.

France : Huge turn for the French. Milan fell to our troops, we advanced to the outskirts of Prague, and pushed from Marseilles to the edge of Genoa.

Great Britain : We sank the U-boats at sea. We pushed in Yugoslavia. We attacked everywhere we could, and are moving in southeast Europe so as to put great pressure on Italy..

USA : A new US Army, the 7th, under MacArthur is based in southern Europe. It is rapidly building up armor there, along with aircraft, and a powerful aircraft carrier force too.

China : The Japanese broke our pocket, forming one of their own, which our forces broke in turn. We are waiting to see where the late winter - early Spring brings us..

31 March 1941

USSR : The USSR is very unhappy at the developments in Eastern Europe. The Red Army is perhaps the most powerful military in the world, but we sit here doing nothing.

France : We captured Bologna.

Great Britain : We captured Ploiesti, Zagreb, and Addis Abeba. The RAF raids where it will.

USA : We captured Genoa. The 7th Marine division took Mogadishu and headed for the Med. 9th Armored has cut the road/RR into Rumania and is but one hex from the Soviet border.

China : Our armor attacked on two fronts.

The Soviets are resigned to peace, although they would prefer to exercise their arms.

The British, French, American and Chinese are doing very well.

The compression of the Axis territory has started to limit exploitation and the war of maneuver. Still the Allied forces have great strength to leverage.

Italy is in deep trouble. The Americans and French are rolling down the peninsula.

As armor and aircraft play such a large role in the offensive we are seeing problems with fuel popping up.

China has forces adjacent to Peking!

There is no bigger humiliation than losing the war to China as Japan....well, coupled with the utter defeat of Italy and the Grim situation of Germany, there is no doubt on the outcome. I concede defeat and congratulate cpdeyoung for another brilliant victory. I would also say that thsi game can be played by two players with the current house rules.
