so apart from air combat, there now hasn't been a shot fired in a few turns, as prep takes time, but while i rest, the axis builds up and also recovers, so i can't wait for ever and a day before all is in place and will have to probe soon, or sooner or later they will be to dug in for me to do anything other than bypass, and haven't yet had the time to prep for another landing as yet, so i start to move all my spearhead armored units to the coastal roads, as that's where there are the most use, and move pure infantry ones in to the line against the Germans, which by now stretches from coast to coast, with some of the best unit they have in line, but yes no depth

yes no depth

YET!

Rome falls, more by the Germans retreating than by me doing anything, as not attacked yet either, as still positioning the units and bringing up supplies and air and well everything else including the kitchen sink by the look of my supply lines

so again i end my turn and while i'm making progress i have little to really show, i've emptied all units now onto Italy so i can push on and break out, as soon as i can, which is when ever i built up enough men and supplies to not only outnumber but defend in depth if needed and take and carry on pushing until Italy is finally clear of German units for good

Image

so i have built up my forces and rested those i can, and now have reinforcements in every port on the east and west coast, so now it's a slow push up the coast

the east coast road see some heavy fighting but in the end, i push the defenders back, but at costs i can hardly afford to lose tbh, but they don't give an inch unless i really push them now

so as i start t17, you can still see the challenge that still lies ahead and the unit which the Axis have placed in front of me, no matter the lost of the Italian Allies, they still have a great front and on good ground can hold me up for a long long time yet, so i need another TF bridgehead behind the lines, so it moves up a bit into less defensive ground for them and more into the open which i need to break out[;)]

about time, i punch a whole a push through some spearhead units and at last i have broken there line, so they either withdraw and plug the gap, or weaken it elsewhere so i can try another break out on the other side of the map, either way i'm moving more now in the direction i wish and need to go, with the Germans and AI doing it's best to keep me bottled up for as long as it can, but the terrain up ahead is better for me, than it is for them, so i push on and push hard for now

Image

only time will tell if it's too late or too hard a push[X(]

at the start of turn 18, again the Axis AI plugs my advance and blocks my advance, time and time again, it does it, so i switch coasts and try the other side as it cant be so strong everywhere

enjoy, i'm testing atm, more than playing, but i thought why not post it while i'm doing it, some may find it useful, others will laugh and find my style funny, as it's not meant to be fefect as i have mentioned more than once i haven't even read the manual as yet, so it's learning by playing and on the job training, so it's my call on what's what, so maybe right, maybe wrong, but if it works use it, if it doesn't, try something else, and yes once mastered and manual read and on a harder settings, the AI would pan me much more often[:D]

all attacks are along the routes i now wish to break out to, so no attacks on the yellow lines, this is for probes and holding and feints only etc

Image

end of t18 positions, so stalled again tbh, but TF's are prepping so need to move some unit to them and wait unit they have the right amount to launch

end of t19, the AI isn't very good tbh, it's fantastic to say the least, good is only used for ok tactics, with this being like against another player imo

Image

and my plans adapts as the turn unfolds as it has to do to adapt to the current action and results

t20, the Germans disengage and withdraw and make a new line and start it all over again, pull back, defend, i break out, they pull back and make a new line, and dig in and defend

Image

2 German units get left behind, so on the start of t20, they are my first orders of the day, surround and take out, then reform the line, so push up, form, breakout and slowly weaken the line so i can carry on the forward movement before i get too bogged down, while getting units onto the transports and TF's prep, the airfields moved, the supply lines fixed and brought closer to the front, it's all go and no rest for the commander, even on normal, the AI can only do so much for you, you still need to do and learn the rest, this is the different from basic counter games, to epic ones

end of t20 leaves 2 German units trapped behind the line, the fronts all set, and 2 routes open that need plugging for me to break out, if i can force these 2 units to surrender next turn, they won't have the depth to hold a line soon, so are weakening them, just takes time, have pulled some reserves off the ships and TF's as now i may not need to jump up the coast as much as i need the units on the boats etc

Image

as the battle ebs and flows, each turn my plan alters, TF's sits and preps, but now no longer has the men on it to do a assault
