When a TOE has a TOE....

Post by InfiniteMonkey »

In the new scenario editor, Task forces, TOE's, LCU's and Bases will all be entered on different windows even though they dump to and import from one file (WitPloc XXX.csv) file. So... I am working on the list view for TOE's in the new scenario editor and got a question for the modders out there...

What values make a difference for each of Base, TOE, and LCU?

The idea is that I do not want to include an input for a value that is not valid for that type of location. Task force is easy - there is a task force window that weeds out the ones that are important by virtue of not being on the screen, but when distinguishing base from LCU from TOE, I have questions like...

Can an LCU have a Daily Supply value?

Can a TOE have a TOE ID?

Should a TOE have a TOE ID taht does nto match it's ID?

For instance, I thought TOE ID would not make a difference from TOE's, but a spot check of BTS 2.6, and a handful of TOE's whose ID does not match it's TOE ID... e.g.

2175 IJA T2 Mor 3 Bn IM 2107
2232 IJA Combat 2226
2329 JAAF Air 2324
2335 JNAF Air Flotilla 2343
2347 JNAF Air Flotilla 2343
2644 Chinese (Red) 2643
2651 Chinese Bn (Warlord 2646
2656 Chinese 2658
2663 Chinese 2658
2688 PA 43 Infantry 2685
2694 AMF Tropical 2696
2736 DUTCH Non Rebuild 2737
2756 DUTCH Garrison 2731
2765 AUS Lt 2764
2827 Indian 41 2851
2832 Aviation Wing 2770
2107 IJA-A Art(b)-Cav 2105

Are those bugs? Ignored? What?

Not that I know of. The 'loc' file combines bases, LCU, LCU TOE, and TF. As a result you gets fields that are used by only one or two of those things, and some fields that have different meaning for different ones.

Also, from the tables in the 'tab' file you will see that there are values for some things that are not used like (going from memory) 'city', 'radar', 'secondary airfield' and maybe others. Those are things that were thought to be needed when the file was laid out but never actually used.

AFAIK what marks an entry as being a LCU TOE is that its TOE field (called LCUFormationID) points to its own UnitNumber. It probably will help to tool through both the LCU and TOE areas of the loc CSV file to see what seems to point to what.

For instance, I thought TOE ID would not make a difference from TOE's, but a spot check of BTS 2.6, and a handful of TOE's whose ID does not match it's TOE ID... e.g.

As far as I know these would be errors, but I do not have 100% confidence.

EDIT: corrected "pint" to "point".
