Scenario 7 recap

Post by blkholsun »

I don't know if this gave anybody else some trouble, but here are some ideas that worked for me.
The key for me was a variant of the widely-discussed Scenario 4 strategy of tricking the enemy into wasting all their bullets. I bled off all long-range SAMs from Okinawa by bringing a single fast aircraft just barely within their range and then ducking back out again as soon as they launched. You'll get 4-6 SAMs launched at you each time, though if you do it right your aircraft is never actually in any danger. I recommend turning off the auto-evade, because it will just waste fuel with a lot of unnecessary motion, and just watch very carefully and manually control. I had a tanker nearby to replenish my bait and a larger AAW force hanging out to chase off any enemy aircraft. This took awhile but finally they ran out of missiles. From this point on, it is just a matter of time. I did a couple large bombing runs to knock down the defenses further, then launched the paratroopers. I did successfully wipe out an enemy surface task force, but I'm not sure that was even necessary and almost all my losses occurred here. It was mostly just something to pass the time while my own task force slowly made its way toward Okinawa. I had a hell of time figuring out how to do the actual cargo parts of this: the manual "unload cargo" does not seem to work, or at least I couldn't figure it out, and doing it via missions is very non-intuitive but I can describe it if anybody else had any trouble.
Final score was 2975, and it took just around 1 day of game time. I am curious whether Taiwan gets involved if it lasts longer?

No problem. How does one post a file? I don't see anywhere to add an attachment.

No they get involved in the next one.

The riding the line thing could be fixed by changing some of the WRA's for the SAMS. Will add as a note for an update at some point.

Thanks!

Interesting, it has be done as a reply. It won't let me post a .save extension so I changed it to .txt, then it says the file is too large. I tried PMing it to you.

Well at least I completed it before you were able to render it impossible for me. ;)

Did you right click the file and actually zip/compress it or just change the extension to .zip? If the latter please do the former.

Come on now. I may not be a great CMANO player but I'm not a generalized moron. ;)

To be fair we don't have any way of knowing that so just go through what we think it might be. If you can think of a better approach let us know.

Feel free to email it to bostonmyk @ gmail.com . I'll forward it on.

I e-mailed it. Does the forum give different permissions as to what can be attached based on how many posts a user has? It's the only thing I can think of as to why I can't but apparently it is possible for other people.

Yeah although if you fail it you should get a warning that specifies exactly that.

We'll let the guys know that manage the forum that something is up. Sorry for your troubles!

Thanks

I had a similar problem on one of my PC before, try to copy and paste that file on root of c drive or d drive first, then upload it from there.
Sir? Do you want to order a Kung Pao Chicken or a Kung Fu Chicken?

Does this mean the trick of using a single aircraft at the edge of SAM range to suck SAM fire no longer works? I did seem a bit gamey to me.
