Save game failed to load

Post by sprior »

I've recently bought a new laptop. I re-installed WitP and then copied my game folders over from my old laptop. One folder works really well but the other keeps throwing up "Save game failed to load" Anyone have any clues? Thanks in advance.

Does that folder still work on the old lap-top? If so something must have gotten corrupted when you copy/pasted it. Clear the bad folder out and try again. Maybe use a new flash drive to make the xfr.

Did you update and patch the game to the same as you had on the old computer?
Are the saved games from one of the modded scenarios like DBB? Most players seem to have a separate install for the DBB so they can have the extended map and stacking limits.

Hi, yes it does still work on the old laptop. I've copied it over twice now just in case the first one was corrupted but the same result.

It is a separate install with DBB but as it's the only game played using that folder it shouldn't make any difference.

OK, necessary confirmation.

Try looking at all the basic installation related stuff. What directory/folder did it install in? Remember that sometimes it gets installed in one of the "Programs" folders where security considerations result in permissions that interfere with the proper running of the game because they somehow limit file creation and modification.

The baser install is here:
C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition

This game is copied to here:
C:\Matrix Games\2x2

How about anti-virus? Is it the same as on the old system? If not, what is it and try disabling it as a test while you load the turn. I am not saying fly without any AV, just test without that one.

You said you had two game folders, one of which worked. Where is it? If you have two different shortcuts, one for each folder, the paths on them should be different. Can you post what they are?
