Need post reading help...

I'm trying to read through all the posts in a certain forum here. Usually I do this on other forums by saving the page I'm reading on my favorites bar to keep my place. But that doesn't work here because it always defaults back to the 12 month view when I click it and I lose my place. Also it says the orange envelope is for new messages, but is there no symbol for posts I haven't read yet? Almost all I see here are the grey envelopes - no new messages - even though I haven't read them. This makes it impossible to tell what I personally have read and haven't.
