The 3.1 patch will not update V for Victory v. 1.1 or 1.2 (the original Utah
Beach). If you wish to play your Utah Beach scenarios under the same
directory as your other V for Victory gamesets, then you will need to
purchase the Utah Beach 2.0 Data Upgrade from Three-Sixty ($5.00 - US)

Thanks, but this is the same patch/update that I have on my Gold-Juno-Sword floppy disk. As you quote from the read.me file, to update Utah Beach from v1.1 to v2.0 requires a separate patch that you had to buy from Three-Sixty. How crazy was that? Why didn't they also include the v1.1 to v2.0 patch on the Gold-Juno-disk along with the other patches? There was sufficient space on the disk after all ! ! !

Oh well, the search continues.....

must admit that's the first time i've ever heard of a dos game costing to be upgraded as well, so was a surprise to me as well, and maybe why the patch is rare, as apart from the mac ones, i've not been able to find it, and that's not good either, as i tend to have a larger net to trawl than most searchers [:(]

I have kept this old Utah Beach v2 patch zip since 1995 ! The problem is it is a 1.1mb zip file which is too big to upload to the forum 750kb limit. I could email it if those interested give me their email details.

I still enjoy playing all the Atomic Games - they all work fine in dosbox.

Agh - I keep trying to put links in my posts but cannot as I am a newbie here. Very frustrating! Anyway, I found this comment on the Google Groups archive of comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.strategic.

"When I contacted Keith Z about putting the above patch on the Atomic server,
he seemed to indicate to me that the 2.0 files were not meant to be
distributed as they were (as it amounted to giving the game away), so I did
not put them into the file that is now on the Atomic server."

So, it would seem that the v2.0 patch was likely the full game and not a patch at all. Likely released before Atomic had written their patching software. So, no wonder it wasn't distributed widely.

I have checked my utah beach version and it shows as v3. I have a screendump but it is too large at 753kb to upload ! This forum upload limit is tiny and not helpful at all.

Anyone if anyone wants the patch send me your email details. Or I could just send you all 4 v4v atomic games patched to v3. That is a 10.3mb download again I could email it.

I'm wondering if perhaps the Victory Pak release maybe has the patch I need.
It is on two 3.5' floppy's, so I can't read them to tell [:(]

No problem, I found a download for it and tried it out. Unfortunately (for me), it installs v3.1 of the V4V engine and v3.0 of Utah Beach which is, I believe, exactly the same as that from the later Commemorative Collection that I already have. So, I'm still missing Utah Beach v2.0.

Apparently the full Utah Beach v2.0 game was available from a Finnish university's website back in 1995 (source: comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.strategic). Understandably this is long gone and the relevant pages are not on the internet archive - aggghhhh!!!!

I just looked in the three boxes and I only have the three original disks. I know they released patches, but I wonder where my disks went? Perhaps, you can exchange files through Teamspeak or Xfire?

I kept those games because of the box art and maps inside. Plus, those manuals.

Well, I'm delighted to say that asdicus sent me the v2.0 patch and it works. So huge thanks to asdicus [&o]

What's interesting is that while this update is installing the title on-screen says v2.0 Data Upgrade it actually installs v2.1 and not v2.0. I'm guessing that there may have also been an earlier update disk that installed v2.0. Anyway, the disk asdicus sent installs the FULL version of Utah Beach v2.1, i.e. no prior Utah Beach installation or disks are required. It also includes an update to bring Velikiyre Luki from v2.0 to v2.1.

Very cool indeed :)

So that everyone has access, I'm uploading the patch here. Due to the file size I'm having to split it into two zip files. Download both zip files and extract them both to the same folder.
