I've fallen way, way behind in my postings as we are now up to Aug 11th. Let me just say that there are "TWO" Battle for New Caledonia." [8D] The war may be a long one. [:D]

However, I need to know what conditions I need to meet to unload the big 20cm CD guns? The load cost are 179. I have another of these LCUs unloaded at Carnarvon. However, I cannot get the 4 x 20cm guns off the xAK that is now docked even though I've increased the size of the port to 2. I have two Ship Eng in route from Soerabaja to increase Nav Support at base, but will that be enough?

You need AK, maybe LSD will work too, never tried them...but those bad little girls need military transport.

Every JFB runs into this problem.

Edit: Sweet Christmas, that is a good unit! OMG. I assume there are at least three previous units too. It better be a long war.[;)]

Huh, your original post said xak?

So you have 10 AKs unloading the 20mm guns in a size 2 port. Amphibious or Cargo? Total naval support present?

Also, it is odd to see, looking at that unit, it doesn't have any inherent naval squads like the 31st Spcl does. Can't recall about wake cd unit.

I have off loaded 20cm guns using AK, amphibious mode, onto size 1 ports.

There a formula in the manual for NavSupport and load/unload. Port 2 is dismally small. Is the unit Amphib or Transport? Amphib GREATLY improves ability to off load. I'll bet you will need a naval HQ to get enough NavSupport to off load.

Put all present aks' into an amphibious task force and try unloading them then, with no other port activity.

If a ship has been loaded "Transport", you will not be able to put it in an Amphib TF. But I am betting it is already in an Amphibious TF - who ships a CD unit in transport mode when fast unload is desired?

Assuming the ship can dock, more naval support is the fastest way to get the guns unloaded. Even at that it may take several days to unload each gun!
Building the port to 3 will definitely help. Command HQ in range helps (I think). If necessary, take the big guns back to the nearest big base, unload them and load them on an AK or LSD if you can.

Sometimes having an Amphib TF remain undocked is better, since the AI abstracts the presence of lighters to transfer stuff, but I think the lighters in a size two port are just too small to handle guns of that weight.

It's on board a single xAK docked. If the two small Ship Eng LCUs are not enough, I'll ship in a Naval HQ from Soerabaja. Since I have 10 of these big CD units with these guns, I need to find out what I need (port size and/or Naval Support to be able to unload them).

Section 9.3.3 of the manual contains the unloading table:
9.3.3 PORT SIZE
A large number of capabilities are linked to port size (with adjustments). These items and their
basic values are:
Port Size Largest Ship Docked Port Total Ships Docked in Port Cargo Handling Fueling Rearm Level
0 0 0 100 100 0
1 6,000 6,000 2,500 2,500 15
2 9,000 12,000 6,250 6,250 25
3 12,000 24,000 11,250 11,250 40
4 24,000 48,000 18,750 18,750 110
5 36,000 60,000 33,000 25,000 300
6 48,000 84,000 54,500 27,500 700
7 60,000 104,000 72,800 34,375 5500
8 72,000 128,000 108,800 62,500 6000
9 78,000 172,000 150,500 93,750 6500
10 84,500 196,000 176,000 125,000 9999
Basic values are adjusted by port damage. Thus a port with a damage level of 10 would lose
10% of its capacity in all functions.

Sorry about the formatting. The Rearm Level uses the weight of the item to determine if the Port can handle it or not. You said the gun weight was 179, so without NS you need a level 5 port to unload it while docked. Better get that Naval HQ!

Probably won't be enough. I have had 20cm guns at a size 5 port not unload (with some naval supply at the port) loaded on an xak -- or at least I recall doing that long ago. Never, ever, put them on xaks![:-]

My advice would be to ship them back to the closest size 7 port and then reload them in amphibious mode onto an AK.

In almost three months of 'real life' we have now reached March '43. A lot has happened!! Most of it is good new for the Empire!! [&o][&o]

Details to follow, but I'm going to ask some more questions about the Empire needs and running my economy better.
1) New Caledonia is in Allied hands and all three AFs are maxed out.
2) The 'siege' of Port Moresby continues and I 'may' not be able to bring it to an end. So, I've got troops moving across from Buna to open up hexsides and allow a withdrawl, if need be.
3) I still control southern India and it is producing excessive Resources and some Heavy Industry (HI) for the Empire. [;)] Periodic sweeps of Bombay encounter up to 200 various Allied fighters, but Mr George rules the skies. Tojo does ok.
4) Operation Squeeze continues as China steadily become more Japanese. I have two question about this theater. One, how to capture Chungking with over 60 enemy LCUs (over 200k in troops) there? Two, how to get the excessive oil (about 50k) from Urumchi to move? Kashgar in northern China remains in Allied hands. My two divisions (another on the way) have been harassed by heavy bombers from India as they chase down two weakened Chinese Corps.
5) Aleutians up to Cold Bay are part of the Empire except for Adak and Dutch Harbor. Adak is under siege and out of supply. Recent attack got 2:1 odds and brought forts down to 1. Hopefully, now that winter conditions are over and with a little more rest, I can recapture the base (20 LCUs and almost 40k in troops including a Marine division). Recently, both Umnak and Akutan were bombarded as my Emilys let me down. P38s and B-24s operate from Kodiak.
6) Subs...Subs...Subs - My warships have been fortunate and NOT been hit to date, but my merchant fleet was losing a ship per day when the dud rate went down on Jan 1st. Thanks to feedback from my thread on Japanese ASW, they have gone way down.

BB/BCs sunk as of 43 March 3rd. I would add BB WVa as she got 1 sub TT hit and then 4 from Kates and 14 bombs from Judys 9 hexes SSE of Noumea.

43 Mar 3rd - I had ordered KB and company to do a Full Speed run to Efate area to attack pending invasion of Tanna. Over two days I sunk two French BC, 3 BBs, 3 CA, 3 CL, 6 plus DDs, 8 xAPs, and some other small shipping. I lost 3 DDs. The Allied invasion was done without any carriers. Just LRCAP from Noumea.

Resources...Resources...Resource - As you can see, I have some significant stockpiles at many bases outside of Japan. Per Tracker, I have 45 days worth at home. I get about 17k per day in surplus in India and I've moved lots of it to Rangoon.

Should I shift all those Aden TFs from Calcutta/Rangoon to Rangoon/Singapore??

Maybe I need to focus less on getting it from small bases producing it and more to places close to Japan??

This is why I updated this AAR this morning.
