It just puts a black dot on the Sun, it's there all day. Somebody should work on that.

I dont see it. Could be the video card or one of the settings in Stellarium.

Wrong date. Look at 8/21/17

I think it's going to be 90% where you are, or better

OH, I see, someone was saying Kentucky was going to be one of the best places to see it.

Appalachian Trail backpackers and hikers are busy making elaborate plans to be at jut the right point on the trail during the eclipse. The consensus location seems to be Albert Mountain, North Carolina, and vicinity. I think it will be 100% in north Georgia and western North Carolina.

It is. We will be sitting on a pontoon boat in Lake Malone, KY with our children watching the entire 71 minutes in its glory.

Neat article here about witnessing the full effects of the eclipse, which will be limited to a relatively small area:

I'm thinking on being in the Wyoming Rockies as it passes over. High up, no light pollution, sometimes you almost think you can touch the darned thing.

Aren't there laws against that sort of thing in public? Even in Wyoming?

No. South Carolina will get a taste of 100%, but the peak effect will be well north and / or East of Georgia. You may just have to cross state lines to see it (and head North to boot), Reb. [X(]

ETA: On second look, the peak effect will *just* tick the far NE corner of Georgia.

Or go to the dark side of the moon, to view the total eclipse. [:D]

(Yes I know there is NO dark side of the moon. It's all dark, the man said.)

At only 1 minute and 7 seconds of total eclipse, you will be missing a sizeable amount by being near the margin.

You're right. I can't get blasted in just 67 seconds. I'm too lazy to head south though. It's going to be a nightmare of traffic jams out there.

Maybe I should take my starship up and put a tractor beam on the moon and move it just a smidge so it passes directly over my house.
