East front units

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

East front units

Post by sven6345789 »

When you disband a unit in the east front box, can you rebuild it ( in Germany)?

Does it make sense transferring a depleted unit to the western front ( Germany) for refit, or is it better to refit them in the east front box? This question regards units which you want to transfer to the west later.

How many units do you tend to draw from the eastern front on an average basis if you play the campaign game as the German ?

What is the sense in disbanding units in the eastern front box?

1) Disband = lost forever
2) Refit in EFB unless you wanna keep/use in West
3) Depends on number required in EFB and strength/CV available in EFB
4) to remove depleted non-divisional units that are either low in CV in general or manpower intensive with low cv

If you have some extra admin points you can send depleted Eastern Front units to the West, where they pretty much jump to the front of the line replacements and are quickly back towards full strength. Then you send them back to the Eastern Front to work on an incremental morale bump for the East.
(You withdrew a basically 0 CV unit and sent one back that was at full strength, so the EF reads this as a morale building positive reinforcement from the Fatherland.)
