Wright Patterson Air Force Museum

Post by Xargun »

For Father's Day my wife and son took me to Wright Patterson Air Force Museum near Dayton. We've been talking about going for many months and finally did it. It was a great day. Parking and Admission is free (a nice surprise). We only did about half the museum in our 5 hours there but did the important parts - Early Years and WW2. Got some nice pics to share with the crowd. I'm sure you can identify them easily even with my crappy photography skills.

Dang.. they are all too large to post here. Any easy way to resave them in a smaller format?

I usually use irfanview to shrink the photo size.

Here is the link :

http://www.irfanview.com/

After install, go to File and then Open your photo,

Then go Image and Resize,

Lastly go to File and Save As (rename the photo).

The new Presidential/Experimental Hanger is pretty cool. You can go inside the planes of Presidents Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, and Kennedy (The same plane that brought his body back from Dallas after he was shot). Kennedy's plane was also used by LBJ and Nixon.

The last Valkyrie is still there, right? From a pure aero standpoint, that might be the craziest thing humans have ever built.

Unfortunately the Dayton airshow won't see the Thunderbirds fly again this year. This is two years running they've cancelled. [:(]

Went there many months ago, filmed it all and spent the rest of that day down the road at King's Island...(when folks could still afford to go.)

The AFB has a nice cafeteria and gift shop in the same main building.
I'm lucky to have a wife who understands....[:D]
