Bomb Unit questions

Post by Searry »

Hello, a new thread again. Maybe I should make one for myself if I keep doing these.

So my question is, an airfield still has bomber which have not reached 100% usage and some are over 50%, why doesn't the still flyable planes fly to bomb any targets?

Or one just for the two of us? [:D]

Which bombing mission are you doing? Bomb airfield has a cap of 33% miles flown.

Do you get any messages e.g. "no airgroups availiable" "severe weather mission cancelled" or literally does it not fly and not tell you anything?

No I'm bombing ground units. It just tells you no airgroups available.

Have you done two other bombing missions (of any kind) in that hex already?

Some of the same questions as with the transporting fuel

i) are the airgroups on night missions for a day mission or vice versa?
ii) are the airbases not in rough/mountain/swamp/urban
iii) are they in range?

Bombing has a problem with multiple airbases in a hex, but in a different way from air transport - higher ID numbered luftwaffe bases are usually not a problem, but an army airbase is (and usually deselecting it does not work in this case)

Have you tried doing a bombing mission with manual selection of airgroups and automatic? And have you tried it with or without selecting the airbase (note in this case having no unit cards on the right is different from just not having it highlighted)

Are you using fighter bombers?

Again! Moving airbases to differing hexes fixes this. This game just boggles the mind sometimes.

I think selecting the nearest airbase with shift to the unit you want to bombard makes the airbase to grab nearby air units and then fly to the target to drop the bombs.

Staging bases - follow the logic back to multiple airbases in a hex (which one is home base, which one is staging) and the bombers and transports questions you have been asking will start to make sense.
