Air War Status: May 1943...Opinions?

Post by Rusty1961 »

I'm curious of what the vets think of the status of my Japanese opponent's loses compared to mine.

Also, not showing up in this image I see my opponent's Betty Air-to-Air losses to be only 73! Some 800 Betties lost in total and fewer than 10% due to air-to-air.

Does it appear my opponent's losses are normal or heavy?

Thanks.

Numbers don't look like anything too out of the ordinary for that period. Your opponent might be using Nicks in a role against fighters like CAP which is ok but they tend to be more effective against bombers when in the cap role. Probably need to mix the cap with Tojo to give some more punch against escorting or sweeping fighters and allow the Nicks to engage bombers a little more. Those Nick A2A numbers are quite high. IMO

If your opponents lost only 10% (of 800)of bettys in the air, it may be that you've hit him on the ground through bombardment...a lot...... or ops are taking a toll and perhaps your opponent hasn't given proper credit to the need for air support at an appropriate level

His Betty Op Losses are close to 400. You're probably correct, he doesn't have enough support on the fields.

He might just be using the Betty's too hard. My guess is he is probably using them a ton for Naval Search at extended range and incurring elevated ops losses due to fatigue and extended range missions.

BTW, are you trying to post a selfie or a screenshot? If you want to use that technique for taking screenshots, can I ask that you find a naked female model to take them for you? [:'(]

In case you need instructions on how to get a screenshot without using a camera phone:

Press Alt-Print Scr (Print Screen key is usually above the insert key). This copies the image of your currently active window to your clipboard.
Open Paint or another graphics tool.
Then press Ctrl V to paste into Paint.
If necessary, use the selection tool to select the portion of the screen you want to display.
Choose save as, and then choose .JPG for the format.
You can then upload image.
No reflection on the screen, and no need to involve another device in posting the screenshot.

I thought you'd appreciate how handsome I was, thus the selfie!

Thanks. The Screen shot saved as a PNG and I tried everything, except what you suggested of course, to get it to become a jpeg.

Thanks for the reminder.

Yes, he is a Nick proponent and he has emphasized their use over all others. He does fly them with Tojos, but my 38's usually end up owning them hard, as you can see by the air-to-air losses.

Ki-45 is an expensive plane (2 engines), so I don't see the logic on using it heavily against 1-E fighters

Allied PBEM game:
>=100 loses, May 24, 43

Jorge, you've already lost 300 C-47s? All ops losses from 'flying the hump', I assume?
