OK, got that.

Using a C-130 with 64 para loadout and also 48 Delta force loadout

Is there a tag indicating which units are para capable? Have tried Infantry section, FOO, Stinger, Special Ops all personal type cargo.

RE: The new features of Chains Of War: Cargo, amphibious and airdrop operations

Post by Dan109 »

What about transporting a small vehicle with a recon team, but no paradrop. Example, I want to fly in undetected, a recon team on a V-22. But, I also want to deploy the M1161 Growler with them so they don't have to walk. No landing fields where I want to go. Would it require something like a LUA Script to create a "runway-grade taxiway, 450m, Med Aircraft" whenever a heli/Osprey hovers at min altitude for say 1 minute? The 450m prevents I think any aircraft besides helos and VSTOL from landing there.

If this at all possible, then I am looking forward to when munitions and fuel can be considered as cargo. FARPs can be a reality - munitions brought in by CH-53s, V-22s bring the gas, to either refuel F-35s in the air, or transfer their fuel to FARP fuel stores. Airlift in some 155s and some land and air security, and now you have a firebase! :)

Oh, back to the paradrop, if you haven't seen this, its priceless. Is there a small % chance of failure on the paradrop?? This video says there should be:

No worries - its a great feature, I just need to dig into it some more and figure it out.

Cheers

Oh quite all right, definitely not stupid questions. Its a complicated new feature.

A little bit of background
A Facility (aka a Land Unit) is made up of a number of mounts.
When working with a Facility, a mount represents a vehicle or a squad / section of infantry.
Cargo works on mounts, not facilities.

This video here shows how to load cargo into an airbase, then load the cargo onto a C-130, and then paradrop the cargo via the C-130.

Ah, then I get it. Thanks!

Yes, helicopters / tiltrotors will hover and descend to 0AGL in a cargo mission to disembark infantry / small vehicles.

Baloogan;

Greetings. Is there a listing somewhere of the new LUA commands.

Thanks in advance

Most subs and ships can carry at least a squad of troops and a raft or two.
Any chance to see this expanded in the future ?

Vehicle (Train Engine, Unarmed) is air-droppable? Maybe off a trestle... :>

Guys this feature rocks, but as usual we your fans want more! With that in mind, and I don't know if this has been asked yet, but is there any way to configure the cargo loadout of ships already at sea? From all I currently see, the capability requires the ship to dock to load the cargo before it can be deployed, but what if I just need the ship with the loadout to simulate the actual landing operation?

Thanks again!

Ignore me. Discovered this was already doable when I tried!

you can go into scenario mode, and edit cargo. I have a test scenario with an ARG and an MEU setup (still need to open many cargo DB requests, to get it right). Let me know if you would like me to post it.

Hi, Dan109!

I would like to take a look at your test scenario if you don't mind.

Thank you!

So it is not possible to convert facility to packed mounts and transfer mounts between facilities by ground contact
(out of: aircraft, airfield; docking host, docked ship; relationship)?
("..The loading of able units in suitable hosts..", am i missing something ?)
(If not, will it be implemented ?)

Folks,

At the risk of sounding a little dumb here I have a couple of questions about Cargo Ops.

My first question is this, is there a reason that the largest unit of "foot infantry" is a section?

Shouldnt the player be able to drop a company or platoon sized unit without having them drop as 8 sections?

My second question is similar,

If I design a scenario and place a unit of Infantry on the ground am free to add or modify the weapons and sensors that unit carries, I can add or remove ATGMs , add or remove sensors ect.

Can this be done for "cargo/troops" at the moment? If so how does one do this? Or are we limited in the same way as aircraft loadouts are and only have the troops/cargo that is included in the cargo list?

Sorry if this comes across as a dumb pair of questions, I am taking my first tentative steps into Cargo Ops

Butch
