1 August 1943 Production

Post by SierraJuliet »

Here we have the current production figures. Heavy industry remains steady and I really have to start working on getting it to move along at a fast pace. Total oil supply has dropped over the last month and this is also a concern. The capture of Petropavlovsk has garnered a nice little haul of 10 factories producing each day. Will have to find a couple of tankers to make the oil run from here to the HI through those sub infested waters. We also have some 70000 oil languishing in Bombay which I want to sneak out soon from under the eyes of the British.

1 August 1943 Points Table

Post by SierraJuliet »

Here is the latest points table. We have dropped under the 5-1 VP ratio after enjoying about 3 weeks above the wonderful number 5. Relinquishing Suva helped with that drop. The war in Russia has seen downed Allied planes increase nicely. Over the last month we have traded shot down planes at around 1 Japanese plane to 4 Allied planes.

1 August 1943 Skovorodino

Post by SierraJuliet »

I seem to have created for myself a rather nice salient. You will notice that my units at Skovorodino have of a sudden found themselves alone in the town. I missed the movement indicators as the Russians prepared to get out. The order to claim this town is issued with the expectation that come 2 August this target will be in the Japanese fold.

This latest withdrawal by Russian forces presents me with a host of decisions to make. To the map north of Hailar sit many Russian land forces. Bloodied after their skirmish in the forest they are no doubt recuperating. Todd is most certainly contemplating where to deploy them next. I shall have to guard against a renewed attempt to force the rail line in the forest hex. The roads to the map east of Brozya also need protecting. Four Russian units have already arrived to sniff out the strength of my forces at this location.

Then there is Hailar itself. Forts here are strong but the open terrain is a negative. My airpower is a big bonus and I suspect that Todd may not be prepared to traverse the open fields in the face of Japanese bombers. I must get some forces set up behind that river outside of Hailar as an early warning of any impending Russian attack.

My thoughts now regarding where to from here.

Ensure that the Hailar line stretching to the main Soviet rail line holds firm while we look towards manufacturing an assault in the direction of Kuibyshevka. We have a few months left before the winter horrors kick in. It will be slow going and I expect it to be a case of aerial assault to start making life difficult for the Soviet forces east of Heiho before any determined land offensive kicks off. Probably will depend on what Todd brings to the table once it becomes apparent that I have an interest in the Kuibyshevka region. The speed of the slow-going assault on Alexandrovsk may also have a bearing on what Todd will eventually send my way.

1 August 1943 East of Skovorodino

Post by SierraJuliet »

To the east and north of the Home Islands we have the slow but inexorable progress towards the capture of Alexandrovsk. With Petropavlovsk in our hands we can now turn further attention towards grabbing this Russian outpost. The fort to the south of Alexandrovsk has been quite the thorn but with the imminent arrival of 56 Division the last embers of resistance from this fort should be snuffed out. The path to Alexandrovsk will then lie open without the need for a costly maritime assault. My plan after capturing Alexandrovsk is to seize Sovetskava Gavan which should cause Todd to contemplate how to deal with a second from on the mainland.

The black circles represent the oil prizes. Okha is indeed a rich prize but of course will need developing… once the base has been captured.

The yellow circles represent bases that have or are developing fortifications. Petro needs troops to make it a target which will be difficult to seize. If Todd were to show up now with an invasion force he would have no trouble seizing it back. I’m hoping that he is somewhat occupied with his forces down in the southern Pacific to go troubling me on my front porch.
