Post by SIPRES »

Hello All,

Here is some presentation material about 1776 American war of independence project (from Thebattlefield and Myself).

So far the map (still on going work) covers:
North to south --> Quebec and great lakes to Yucatan and carabeans
East to west --> America east coast (from Mississipi river) to europe west Coast

Majors Nations involved:
Great Britain
Continentals
France
Spain

New Graphic interface and windows (around 60-70% complete)
Diplomacy, research, Decision ect....
Historical flags
Custom resources sprites ect....

new units (2D only)
Majors completed --> minors on going

Still some hard task to complete scripting, and OOB to define.

As a start here is few screenshot of current progress

Wow, looks really awesome. I don't know how you all design the counters like you do but it looks beautiful.

Wow, looks really nice ! How difficult is it to do the map ? I have no experience making maps with this game and wonder about it.

Hi sPzAbt653

Obviously the map is a difficult and long process (depends on size mainly), we share the work on a dropbox to allow quicker achievement.
The main problem is the coastlines wich had to be done manually.
Other items like rivers streams, terrain and ressources are more "easier"
I found an usefull tool on the forum "the map scanner" wich make lets say 30% of the job for the coastlines.

I am also working on an other map with a bigger scale that I will show on a separate thread (Europe 250x204).
This could be use and shared for divisionnal scenario scale for example.

Map work

Post by TheBattlefield »

Hello! To prove that we are still working hard on this mod, I have now uploaded some screenshots of our map development:

After importing the raw map, the partly unsightly coastal lines were straightened. Afterwards, we have placed a few important cities (New York, London, Madrid, Paris) to use as a point of orientation for further map content. After working out the British Isles, I went to France. A lot of work is waiting here!

The next step is to position and label the smaller cities. Do not be fooled ... what looks so easy here takes hours! [;)]
