Lost one but the other two lived to tell the tale. I think the radio communications from the surviving MTBs cannot be printed!

Wiped out the American TF though...

But surely you MUST have sunk Two Carriers, a Battleship and Numerous Cruisers and Destroyers!

So, John, have you tried the low CAP settings yet? Any results?

I have all of Formosa set to the degree that we have spoken. Other then that one raid that got chewed up, he hasn't tried the defense yet.

Have been busy beefing up my Minefields at Takao and Taihoku to keep him from trying to get frisky with bombardments. Have got two CD units ready to bring in but he needs to move away for me to safely deposit them.

Anyone ever experience that forced disbanding of about 20 air groups on July 10, 1944? It SUCKS!

Why on God's green earth do I have to disband about 1,000+ aircraft?

I do hope that you did (or will) "upgrade" them all to crap planes and 'harvest' all the good pilots before disbanding the groups? Also, I assume it's disband rather than 'withdraw' per se?

Navy Fighter Armageddon. Withdraw...a lot come back in following months, but never enough. One of the reasons why the Army fighters need hefty production, especially with their expansion in April of 44.

Same thing happens to Night Fighters but on a much small schedule. Really burns me that you have to remove them, as everyone is needed!

July 10, 1944

Imperial High Command begins rejoicing as Convoy TK-5 makes it out of the danger point and begins the home stretch run to the Home Islands. This is a small miracle.

Not much happened last turn so I am going to do an "High From Above" Post.

The Japanese will have the sea lane cut along the Formosa Strait within weeks. The Allies have all but the NE Tip of Luzon and everyone knows the sizes of AFs that can be built on those plains. The occupation of Orchid Isle and Ithabayat Isle signal major trouble for using the strait once they are built up. With this in mind here are the current projects/thoughts:

1. Still have a bunch of troops that I have moved out of the DEI and placed into Indochina. Will work to move them up to northern Indochina for pick-up by convoy to then redeploy into the Okinawa and closer to home arena.

2. Want to try and run the empty TKs from Convoy TK-5 back thru the strait as soon as possible.

3. A final supply convoy carrying 60,000 supply has left the Home Islands and is going to try to unload in Formosa.

Am done with major supply convoys leaving Japan. The Jimas are all quite well off as well as the Marianas. Need to bolster the Okinawa area with some but then should be in pretty good shape.

The soon-to-be arrival of Convoy TK-5 is a HUGE boon for Japan. It cannot be overstated enough that the 150,000+ Fuel and 75,000+ Oil will propel the economy for several strong months.

This leaves the remaining TKs and AOs in the DEI. I have come up with the plan to fight them out thru the southern bottom of Dan's salient with the use of the entire CV Fleet. Just might unload all the DB for Fighters and set the TB on ASW for this potentially epic move. The goal would be to bring home 500,000+ Fuel and Oil in one fell swoop.

Do we expect to lose it all? Heck ya! But it will be fun...
