Seeking Data On French Fleet in World War 2

Post by GaryChildress »

Does anyone know of a good website that lists French warships of WW2 and the officers that commanded them. I've found a great site for the Kriegsmarine which lists all their warships and the officers but I can't find anything comparable for the Marine Nationale. I'm wondering if anyone out there knows where I can obtain such information.

Thanks for any help.

Gary

Its also worth checking out this site. Although its mostly Royal Navy there is also 'stuff' on other Allied navies including the French.

I have a few books on the French Fleet so if you have any specfic questions I may be able to help.

Skyland and Warspite are fantastic sources for info on the French. A lot of Skyland's work has gone into my Mods.

+1. Skyland is the go-to source for the French. If you haven't already, download his mod, which adds a good part of the French OOB to the game. I used quite a bit of his excellent work in Focus Pacific.

I used http://www.navypedia.org/ships/france/fr_index.htm extensively for Focus Pacific as well along with other, scattered sources.

If you add the French OOB, I would also recommend looking into adding the St. Louis class heavy cruisers that were planned but never ordered.
