It remind me that I have yet to find a great geopolitical simulation game. I have tried the demo of democracy 2 a long time ago:

It was interesting but I was looking for something with more interaction with other countries. A kind of geopolitical game with advanced economy in the context of our current world.

Any advice from people out there?

Fate of the World is horrible, and the Geo series is poorly rated.

Supreme Ruler Ultimate can be had cheap during sales but is RTS with pause and requires some serious micro. Also more focused on combat, but not as much as Hearts of Iron III. Both these games are worlds different than Democracy 2, as mentioned by the OP. Maybe Twilight Struggle would be the thing?

I have tried Supreme Ruler 2010 a long time ago but I found this is more a real time strategy game than a "reflexion" game. It was more war oriented and the economy was too simple. Any improvement on this side with Supreme Ruler Ultimate?

I already have Twilight Struggle as a boardgame. Did not try the PC game.

Realpolitiks seems interesting, I will try the demo.

Nothing in the work on Matrix side??? [:)]

SR Ultimate is a solid improvement, but really an RTS wargame for sure.

I might suggest Sid Meier's Beyond Earth. There's a lot of research, diplo, government types, "virtues," and not war focused. Currently on sale for $10 on Steam, I don't think the average gamer can go wrong at 75% off for this one. Also, has mod Workshop support.

SuperPower 2:
Good in theory, if it works for you. It worked for me on an older PC but on my new PC my countries armies will randomly disappear, making the game near unplayable.

You can run your own country and try to make your own empire. It's genuine fun as South Korea to unify with the North, then get carried away and try to take all China. Then find the resulting country is utterly unmanageable. Or as the US, somehow end up at war with everyone except Japan and UK, and send out troops to liberate the UK from Germany. Or form an Iranian empire and take over the middle east.

Those are the good points, but they also reveal the downsides. Every country becomes economically self sufficient, so even when Greater Iran was hated by all there was no shortage of oil in foreign countries. North Korea's invasion of the USA was unstoppable at sea as Navies are largely irrelevant (though this may be changed in the Steam version). Meanwhile the "sophisticated AI" managing China kept nuking Zimbabwe every few months.

Thanks all for your answer. I have also seen Labyrinth from GMT games that is not of course a PC game. Did anyone try this one?

All of the COIN series games from GMT are outstanding. Labryinth, A Distant Plain and Liberty or Death are in my collection and I can't recommend them enough. Fantastic, if not slightly complicated, solitaire experiences. I'd suggest checking out reviews and shopping for a copy at Board Game Geek. Great forums, really knowledgeable people.
