What do you use CVE primarily for?

I usually use them to provide extra CAP to my CV TF. I so far have had only CVE Unyo and she has 27 A/C capacity, so I can load a land-based Zero squadron (27 airplanes) on her.

I use my USN CVEs to provide AIr Cover for Convoys, as well as using their bombers (if any) to provide ASW patrol, thus removing an inherent vulnerability to convoys.

I voted for other because I use CVEs for the first four reasons. I can't say I use one more than the other - it depends on the situation. For instance, I'm in a game where I lost my fleet carriers early on and have been struggling to regain some initiative. My opponent has his Japanese CVs intact, but I have only been able to get 4 CVEs out of Pearl with one fleet carrier and the Victorious(which I call a CVL). I have to use the CVEs in their CAP role for the Air Combat TF to have a chance against the Japanese super-CV TF. Otherwise I would delegate them to ASW and transport escort duties. Should I go back and vote 4 different times?

The games that I have played the Allies the Japs quit the game before I received the CVE. But I world use them in the normal CV TF with whatever planes they arrive with.

As the Japs, I send them straight back to the Emperor. In 1943, the Japanese naval commitment level doesn't allow for 94 point accessories getting in the way. You need real fighting ships.
I'm a hazard to myself.

use of CVEs

I use the early CVE to transfer air groups from Brisbane to Nomea. I try to make it virtually impossible for the Japanese player to take that base, especially in scenarion 19.

In a pinch (if Nomea is attacked) before I have three CVs I will group the CVE with the two early CVs as a decoy near Nomea. It often takes hits and leaves one CV untouched. :)

I use CVE's as airpower in the NG area leaving my regular CV/CVL for use in the main battle area. On the CVE's that don't have air units assigned, I'll transfer Marine VMF & VMB groups to them with one unit on each CVE so that overloading won't be a problem.
