Anyway to tell when your fighters go on strike?

Post by Disgruntled Veteran »

I'm sure everyone has seen this by now. Your fighters have plenty of % left in their moves and then they suddenly decide not to escort your bombers on a ground attack and bamm! you lose 50-60 bombers in one attack. I keep my % to fly at 20 and keep all other settings at 100. This is one area I hope players can get more control of in WITE 2. What is going to fly on any given battle is always a dice roll to me. Any hints on air management?

Make sure they have enough ammo and fuel. You can even airdrop fuel and supplies to your fighter bases to keep them running!

Also make sure your airbases are in proper terrain.

I just noticed my Soviet airbases all have different TOE% set points (I never changed them. Should they be at 100%.

If you have the manpower then yes. The game sets airbases and HQs and construction units to current toe% at the start of game in order not to suck available replacements into noncombat unit, before the player had the chance to review situation.

Disgruntled Veteran, most likely they are out of range. Without manually selecting source airbase hex before launching a ground attack, the game likes to select a base far away and this causes the bombers to fly unescorted.

Thanks. I meant to say Ground support though. So you can launch say idk 8 attacks in a row with full fighter escort then the 9th attack goes and all your bombers go unescorted. There seems to be a cap on how many escorts fighters will go regardless of what their ready percentage is. I'll track it on my next turn. But once I hit that cap no fighter from that COC will fly.

Check the ammo and fuel situation, that's usually my bottleneck when the fighters don't show up.

Please make screenshots, which units attack, what is the % used and ready numbers for air groups from eligible air armies.

I had this problem, the most simple way to overcome this problem is to launch your attacks from a fighter base. Its
a bit of PIA but it works.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.
