MPA Patrol Sonobouy logic

Post by Adam106 »

How exactly is Maritime Patrol Aircraft ASW mission behavior programmed?

In relation to sonobouys all ASW missions seem to drop one passive bouy at the start of the patrol, and then never drop another unless commanded manually. Is this correct? Will they ever drop active sonobouys? Is it related to the size of the patrol area? How can I get them to drop a string or even pattern of bouys - this could be a really useful (and easy?) feature for any coming updates.

Cheers.

They will drop active buoys now and then if you set their EMCON to "Active" for sonar.

I usually constrain my MPA's patrol zones to narrow lanes, so they lay neat lines of sonobuoys.
As for actives, I didn't know they'd ever drop them without a target to investigate or a manual order; the poster above me has provided some interesting info :)
