Next I checked the PATCHES folder and saw I did not have the latest official patch, so I downloaded it and unzipped it there, then ran it.

Next I'm going to reload the regular map. I'm afraid that somehow even though I was using a non-extended map that DBB-C had made some change to it and that was the cause of the PWHEX error. Now before I try and figure that out I'll read your posts. If you spot any mistake I've made please post it.

I am honour-bound to disagree with you old chap.
Webster also changed the spelling of words like defence, theatre, plough, axe, and catalogue, in addition to the u-less words. His spelling of tongue (tung) did not catch on.
Webster would like spellcheck. [&o]
Eww - they cut his tung out?

Is that where tung oil comes from?

Point 1: You really only need the -fd switch once in your command line.
Point 2: DBB-C uses the extended map.

Good catch on the -fd switch. DBB-C did something to the Buin and Shortlands base setup where you ended up with 3 bases and two islands instead of one. Now the map I was using only had Buin but if you put the cursor on it it showed it as Shortlands. I'm wondering about that. The extended map files are just additions/alterations to the map edges.

Not that I would question someone of your physical prowess, but should "altfont" in your shortcut be "altFont" to work properly?

I now am on the stock map and the Buin / Shortlands error is gone. I'll bet anything that was the source of the pwhex file error.

Whatever you guys do, test before you leap:

Gorn create a second PBM in a different save slot but of course in the same installation.
• Gorn enters password, don't bother with any orders, end turn.
• Gorn sends to Human.
• Human enters password, no orders, end turn.
• Human sends turn to Gorn.
• Gorn runs turn rsolution.
• Gorn opens turn, no orders, end turn.
• Gorn sends turn to Human.
• Human runs combat replay.
• Human opens turn, no orders...

Now the inter-species conspiracy has effectively run a game through giving orders for turn 1, running turn 1, opening turn 2, and should have encountered NO ERROR MESSAGES. If error messages were encountered, figure out the problem and try again. When there are no error messages encountered, delete that test PBM and go back to creating the real PBM in the slot desired.

I will now proceed with the test run George suggested with Steve.

I have my fingers crossed. If this goes south, I shudder to think of the reaction...
