In the next allied impulse the 2 fleets stumbling around in the rain in the north sea found each other for a brief exchange. The turn continues with a spring snow storm raging across Europe.

RE: New AAR Keith Vs Ian
That looks quite some exchange for a light cruiser to take out a battle cruiser!
RE: New AAR Keith Vs Ian
No those were just the only 2 causalities. Lots of ships on both sides.

I can just see the (posthumous) Victoria Cross the captain of the Cairo got for ramming the Scharnhorst.
(If Lt Cmdr Roope could get one for ramming Admiral Hipper with HMS Glowworm without sinking her, why not? [:)])

He didn't get it based on success (or in this case, otherwise) of the mission, but on the act of valour in the face of the enemy.
So HMS Delhi's Captain Alfred Russell is fully deserving of his Victoria Cross for ordering the ramming (and sinking) of one of the two Ugly Sisters at the Battle of Skaggerak 28th March 1940 [&o]
Poor B******s. The RN often achieved what it did inspite of its equipment - rather than because of it.....[:(]

We are sad about the Scharnhorst. Mourning cards are appearing in the windows of the houses in northern port cities.
My fault perhaps for not withdrawing after she was damaged in the first combat round.

Indeed an heroic achievement in the great tradition.

AXIS #9 MAR/APR 40
Germany combined, Italy pass, Japan naval.
Some quiet Japanese naval moves: a CV returns to some day pick up new planes, a Formosa militia takes to sea, another cp in the China Sea.

The Germans send out a flotilla to the North Sea which picks up an Inf Div from the Dutch coast. The RN tries to intercept, fails, the Germans stay in the 3 box with some fighter cover nearby and neither side search. U boat searches in the Faroes fail.
In the west, sitzkrieg continues.

May/June 40 starts with the Allies winning initiative. Land for China and France, Combines for Russian and America. CW takes a naval and the entire fleet worldwide puts to sea. As a side not I'm a total noob at playing the CW. My knowledge of the convoy system is very basic. Steep learning curve but i'm trying lol.

Why aren't the Belgians in Antwerp? That gives them a small chance. Setting then up in Brussels dooms them 100% of the time.

OKW was very concerned about this, hence German naval manoeuvres last turn that ended with our sacrificing the Scharnhorst. We were looking to work an edge by shore bombardment or invasion if the weather shifted.
I'll take the exchange.

The weather is beautiful. A sight for sore German eyes.
Japan and Germany land, Italy combined.
Japanese Nells hit Chungking for a change, and hard.
