Public Beta v1.10.00 is Now Available!

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

There was no change. Production of guns is limited in the same way since early 1.08.

Sometime leater super heavy gun category was introduced, and it has building disabled.

I'am not sûre to understand. Do you mean no production of super heavy gun is possible and we have a fixed amount for the entire war from start ?

Yes, but this only applies to guns like the 600mm Karl. They weren't built serially.

It may apply to the soviet 203mm if i remember well. I will check.

As the 203mm is in the default TOE of breakthough divisions, i may have to disband old support units BM howitzer.

I think Denniss could add something here, he altered build limits for many elements.

Heavy and Super-Heavy Artillery are likely somewhat restricted in their production but not disabled (or not highest priority). Only the 280mm gun does not produce.

Zimmermann,

Try just doing nothing for 5/10 min after you see the 99%, etc msg. If you have Win 10 it should all straighten right out and you can finish up by following the prompts.

First of all thank you for the update. I find it great that the game is still improving!!!!!!!

I have updated from an old version (one.eight.four) to the current version and tested more times.

The same battles in the two versions provide very different results.
The losses of the Germans seem to me very small.

I then tested with another saved game in the first Blizzard (one day after Christmas).
Even there the Germans had very little losses.
(Normal winter settings)

Mhh, can it be that the game needs a few laps to settle down?
Does the German also get more losses when he is attacking?

The method of accounting changed, so now you see the exact losses taken during battle (already killed or disabled). Previously casualties were shown as higher, but they were fantasy numbers - trying to approximate losses that you will take in the future when resolving damage from elements during logistics phase. Obviously there could be many more battles or movement or air strikes between this point in time and your next logistics phase so they were not accurate at all.

As morvael said, what is being shown has changed, but the actual losses (in terms of destroyed/damaged elements that result from a battle, and how these elements convert to KIA/Captured/Disabled and can be repaired over time has not changed). Because of the changes, it will look like losses are lower, but actual losses have not changed at all.

Playing a very mature Bitter End game, multiplayer, with gmtello. The game had been unable to load for gmtello using the penultimate beta. The game was advanced to Dec. 1944. With the new beta patch, my opponent was able to load and play. Now, while trying to play my turn, the game crashes frequently. It appears to do so only when the enemy is retreating.

It's a multiplayer game. Try a deliberate attack with the Russian unit at 75, 74. You'll get an immediate crash after the retreat.

I see 4 active gmtello games on the server, but none against chuckdevore. All the games have last change dates of Feb 21 or later. do you go by a different name on the server?

Weird, it shows up on my multiplayer screen as chuckdevore. Perhaps S2 Tanker?
