Rate of morale recovery

Post by wga8888 »

Its turn 6 in my second campaign as Soviets. I have a number of tank units at supporting the front line in reserve with morale in the 30s, max is 45. I know if I move them 10+ hexes from the enemy the morale in increase faster. What I do not know is how many turns they will have to server in the rear before they have any combat value.

It is probably dependant of a lots of factor, such as the political and admin rating of the leader the unit is attached too. And range to HQ.

Of course these types of units often are attached to stavka so have the worst leadership possible.

I think I read somewhere the 10+ hex thing for increased morale recovery has been removed?

I do not think so, but it has probable been nerfed to prevent increasing the morale above national morale too much.

First you wait for morale to increase (better away from enemy), but then you have to wait until experience catches up to have a fully maxed unit. And this takes time.

Refit helps in recovery, but slows digging in.

The intent of the question is once the unit is 10+ away from enemy progress, how many turns will it take to reover morale fully? 1-3; 5-10? There are many variables involve for an exact number, but I have no idea.

It's too random to give definite numbers. It depends on leader rolls, supply, distance to morale. It should be pretty fast when very low and unit is at full strength, slowing down near maximum level or where unit is at low strength.

The game may be decided by 10 turns from now. If the units will not be recovered in say 6 turns, I may as well use them at the front. I do not know if recovery will be in 3-6 turns or 10-13.

In my experience (as axis) my units recover at a rate from 1-4 morale points a turn.

And air units recover like lightning...
Molotov : This we did not deserve.

Foch : This is not peace. This is a 20 year armistice.
