Hotfix 1.09.02 file for public beta users

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Ah. I have to see about that. Thanks for help!

Edit: something seems to have messed up my WitE installation, so I need to reinstall anyway.

Double edit: seems that for some reason either anti-virus (AVG) or something else had damaged my previous installation. Weird. But it's not that big deal to reinstall. I'll update is I actually manage to uptdate to .02. [8D]

Triple edit: All OK now, so problem had nothing to do with hotfix.

Already out of my hands, and in production pipeline (it contains improved current turn losses feature, so it will be a different version than 1.09.02).

Playing against gmtello using multiplayer. Bitter End scenario. Both using 1.09.02 public beta version. For the first time in years of playing, the game has crashed twice, once on each of the first two turns while moving as the Soviets. It appeared to happen when an interdiction was made. The game exited to the menu screen and all progress was lost. Was able to restart and complete turn.

Any preliminary plans for the next version, Morvael?

Just bugfixing or should we be expecting changes or new stuff even? [&o]

I'll settle for the official 9.02 beta lol. My opponent is on Steam, I'm not and he wasn't able to make the hotfix work. Hope the official beta is soon!

We have a 1.10.00 beta installer in test now. We hope it will be out before the weekend. It was delayed a week or so due to a crash bug reported on the forum here that was duplicated. Helpless and Morvael were able to get to the bottom of the crash bug (IIRC several possible crash bugs) and they think they've greatly reduced the chances of it happening in the 1.10.00. Other than the crash fix, it has a new feature Morvael added to the loss screen that I think players will really appreciate. Sorry for the delay, but we hope the added stability will be worth it.

We have a 1.10.00 beta installer in test now.

As we jumped from 1.09.02 to 1.10.00, does it mean a whole new patch & if so, what will it entail?

Joel described this accurately. One new feature and one crash fix. Improved loss counting requires altered savegame structure (more space for data), so saves must be made incompatible with previous versions. That requires minor version bump (from 1.09 to 1.10) to reduce confusion.

What about ongoing games, will there be any conflict?

You should be able to use 1.10.00 with existing games. However, a save made with 1.10.00 can't be loaded by earlier versions, so both players will need to upgrade to 1.10.00 in any 2 player games.

The 1.10.00 should be available on Steam once it is available at Matrix.
