RE: Jison Map Mods site down?
It went offline about a week ago. Reasons are plenty, but the two biggest are that the mods are incompatible nowadays, and a knowing that there will most likely be no new mods coming due to commitments elsewhere. The site had no real purpose any longer.

Pretty disappointed about this. I do have backups of my WITE maps from Jison unfortunately I don't have backups
of his excellent Campaign Series maps.

I agree, GSME is nice but hardly a requirement. Backing up the DAT folder would do.

And if you want modified model graphics to go along with your beautiful new map, just check my signature (as you can see chemkid has it installed as well). [:)]


Question for you Hagar. How did chemkid get your mod in the JSGME? The download on the page you link runs an exe which automatically saves over the vanilla files. I'd like to keep it separate if at all possible.

You'd better ask chemkid, as I don't use JSGME... It's true the EXE overwrites the Vanilla files, but it comes with a full backup of all the Vanilla images in ZIP file. So nothing is truly lost, and I doubt you'd ever be reverting to the Vanilla images anyway, blurred as they are. And as far as mods for WitE go, all that I know of overwrite parts of the DAT folder, so a back-up of that folder will do for sure.

Don't worry chemkid, I got it working now. IE just wasn't cutting it anymore so I switched to Chrome.

I'm with you when it comes to mods. I used JSGME for another matrix game and liked how efficient it was.

As for the mod, it's really beautiful.

Not sure if it's reported here, but there's at least one small cosmetic error on Jison's map, hex X77,Y51 is filled with forest even when it's actually a clear hex. I have a crude but passable graphical fix for it downloadable if anyone's interested.

I'm sure that anyone with at least some paint skills can do a better job than me with the fix, the files you need to edit are:

Zoom2 : 22.tga (2 hexes east of Lepel, on the Smolensk landbridge)
Zoom4 : 6.tga
Zoom5 : didn't fix this since the hex seems kind of ok on this one, and you really can't notice it

You're absolutely right! In quite a key position too... Smack in your Soviet first main defensive line on the road to Moscow (Vitebsk-Mogilev gap). Here is a mapfix for the 'a rainy day in Russia map (gridlines)'. I've opted for a fix for Zoom5 as well (01.tga), as it does make a difference IMHO.

When I try to click on the link and download the mod I get this message- Not Found

MapMod/index.htm was not found on this server.

a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.



Anyone know why and how can I download this mod?

I recently bought a new PC and had to reinstall War in the East. On my old PC, I had downloaded the graphics upgrade that Jison had created and would like to do this on my new PC. I've downloaded the MapMod.WitE.September file - which I think is Jison's file - but can't remember the process for installing it. Could someone help me with this? Thanks!
