Cavalry Tanks in Commonwealth Units

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Cavalry Tanks in Commonwealth Units

Post by Q-Ball »

I remember this was a problem months ago, and not sure it's fixed. It's not a game changer, but I notice that Commonwealth units with "Cavalry Tank" in the TOE retain the Crusader III way past it's expiration date, leaving a mountain of Cromwell tanks in the pool.

Units are sitting on Depots, on REFIT, etc, but are not upgrading the Crusader III to Cromwells

As fun as it is the bounce 6 pounder shells off Panther armor, probably gets old for the crews after awhile

WAD?

Don't worry we have mostly PzIIIH and old French R35s, you'll be fine. Come on over!

Do you have some units as example ?
Probably a mix of data and .exe problem - Ground element upgrade paths are not split between factory and element so if one element's production has to stop we can't specify an element-only upgrade path. The element swap engine is reluctant to do anything, in stark contrast to the aircraft swap engine which is hyperactive/nervous.
WitE dev team - (aircraft data)
WitE 1.08+ dev team (data/scenario maintainer)
WitW dev team (aircraft data, partial data/scenario maintainer)
WitE2 dev team (aircraft data)

Server game vs. Gunnulf.......Czech Armored Bde, Polish Armored Division, and one of the Canadian Armored Divisions, off the top of my head

I assume it's the 5th CAN Arm div, the 4th should be on a different OB path.
AFAIR none of them start with Crusader III but likely get them swapped-in for Cromwell I (small production, large pool of Crusader III).
Sad to see they are not swapped for intended Cromwell IVs.
Are the Crusader IIIs already scrapped ?

I'll look next time I'm on the game. IIRC, there are Crusaders in the pool
