Attacking Naval units in port

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Attacking Naval units in port

When attacking Naval units in port, the combat prediction gives a percentage value. Is this
a damage reduction, and if so, how does it work?

Typically, the number values you see will be how much damage will be inflicted on the port itself, ie: the port is at strength level 10, and a 2 point hit will put it at 8. The percentage value is how much chance the ship in the port will be attacked, ie: 20% chance to hit the ship and I think there is a number to indicate how much damage will be caused.

Any bonus against the ships, or is it just like attacking them on open seas?

According to what I remember from an older thread, there's actually a malus when attacking ships in port with other ships - though not when you're attacking with submarine or aircraft (I don't think there's actually a bonus, though). I also don't remember whether the malus just pertains to chance-to-hit or to actual damage too.
