Nice work [:)]

In my youth I made many, many models. All aircraft, because that was my main interest, although I would have liked to have tried armour/vehicle modeling. I became quite adapt at it but I didn't have an airbrush, so my paint-jobs didn't have that professional look.

I mainly did WW2 stuff, but also cool 70s/80s fighters and in the mid to late 80s when stealth became better known, I made the Testors F-19 Stealth Fighter (which was actually more advanced than the F-117 Nighthawk it supposedly represented as it had a smooth, curved fuselage more in keeping with the next generation of stealth like the F-22).

I also made the Soviet version, which was the Mig-37 Ferret E by Italeri in conjunction with Testors. The theory was that the Soviet technology wasn't as advanced as that of the U.S. so it used faceting. In fact the F-117 had been in service for quite some time and used faceting itself. In fact the rumour at the time was that if you wanted to know what the U.S. aircraft looked like, look at the Mig-37.

The consultants on these models knew their onions because both hypothetical models display low-obserables techniques like stealthy shapes, no right angles, low infra-red exhausts and internal weapons carriage etc. I remember that the instruction manuals had little stealth technology tips all through them.

Here is the F-19

And the Mig-37 Ferret E. Note it even had a stealthy, facetted bomb and what I assume are air-to-air missiles. The F-117 was a pure attack aircraft with no ATA ability.

I used to do models many years ago. I put together PT-109, an Apache helicopter, Panther tank, B-17 Bomber, B-24 Liberator, and a squad of German infantry WWII era.

I don't have them anymore or any pictures of them sadly. It was a fun hobby, but expensive (kind of like wargaming [:)])

I have 15 or so. Said that when I retired I'd assemble them.

I'm retired, and they're still in the boxes.

They're like shoes :)

I have the entire Tamiya 48th scale catalogue

And I often paint them like this.

This was a single day effort. Painting is something that takes more time planning.

God I hate forums with lousy software. If anyone can do these properly feel free.

I've got few plastic WH40k models. What I've pieced together are still without paint.
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.
