Relief of Land Uits

Post by adarbrauner »

Hello to all;

If've well understood, an LCU landed for any reason in a location, such as an island or atoll, not provided with any port facilities, shall not be retrieved by ship but tather condemend to remain there, unless any port cabability built there, or relieved through Float Transport Planes. Is it correct?

TIA

Use Amphibious TF. Those can pick up guys from anywhere. Expect losses on loading though

You can facilitate the loading of units at dot hexes or at bases with no port or minimal port level by utilizing naval support. Some units have a naval support component (you'll see it listed on the unit's display, just like you'd see aviation support listed). Allied naval HQ units, naval base support units (like USN, RN, and RAN base forces) and US port service units are your most likely choices. The latter are small, easily carried, easily loaded and unloaded, and are therefore quite valuable, especially early in the war.

Another couple of alternatives - use Fast Transport ships to "pick up troops", or use seaplanes like Catalinas/Mavis to airlift them out. Cats can load light equipment up to about 37mm AT guns.
In some cases where my amphib landing put a something big on the island I have landed engineers to build the port to size one and then used an xAKL (small size can dock at a Port 1) to remove the equipment.
