USN Sea Base

Post by kevinkins »

Been sand boxing some ideas to simulate the USN sea base concept to help get inside the A2/AD envelope of a red force. I came across a lot of cool ships: roll off cargo, transfer docks, dock landing ship and the transfer dock vessel. These are used in sustaining a amphibious ground force. I believe detailed coverage of amphibious operations will be part of a big update. As of now, the way I was planning on using these types of ships is by triggering actions if and when they occupy a certain tactically important place. For example, add a single unit airfield if a logistics outfit maintains a specific coastal position for – say – 24 hours. Is there any other way you think these types can be of value until the update arrives? Is it worth the effort or should I wait. Thanks for the advise. Kevin

Yep. I saw those in the db. I was seeing how best to use them to sim a working sea base and not just as targets. Any ideas? I mention teleporting stuff above.

You can use teleport or a lua add unit action in the event editor to spawn in units. You can also change a units side in lua if you'd like to take facilities.

Thanks!

Ok Mike, that was my approach pretty much. Should I wait the until the new amphibious mechanics (for lack or a better term) are released? Are they "just around the corner" in other words?.

There is a Sandbox scenario of mine in the Steam Workshop that shows how you can do 'landings' using just Lua scripts.
"Sandbox - Landing forces" or "Sandbox - Using LUA scripts" from memory

Thanks, I will take a look at that for sure!. One thing I implemented yesterday was a rudimentary "supply" counter based on protection of the Sea Base which operates about 100 nm off shore. Swarms of LCAC hover craft would be used in real life but I was gonna leave them out since that would be over kill. The operation is very interesting to learn about and then try to set up in Command. I am combining the Sting of Pearls map with the Sea Base into one sandbox. Thanks again.

Thank you for the link. I did not have that one. It will help me better simulate the sea base concept in Command. I may have a file to post for the weekend.

Nice reference. I just added it to my Dropbox collection of CMANO reference documents. Anyone interested in access please send me a PM with your email address and I'll set you up.

Glad to help

I hung up my uniform some years ago but still work for the Navy so I have tons of reference material like that. If there's something you're interested in (unlcass) just let me know.

Interested in the "Close" and "Assemble" phases if you can share any details. That is, the first two "Lines of Operation" as the Sea Base comes together before it is fully ready for combat or provides assistance ashore. For example, where are the propositioned materials located? Thanks.

Great stuff. Looks like MPSRON-2 fits well into one of my projects. The one link shows an example 3 ship sea basing module (2016). Very useful.

Thank you
