Unescorted US AI troop transports

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Unescorted US AI troop transports

Post by Solaristics »

I'm not sure if this is WAD or not, but my German subs are intercepting unescorted US AI troop transports heading to North Africa and the UK. The UK and US navy seem to hold up in Scarpa Flow, although some destroyers are patrolling the convoy routes (further north from the transport intercepts) and doing a reasonable job harassing my sub convoy raiding.

To add to this: I think the US seems at a loss of what to do when Sealion was successful. In this case, they really should make sure to save up and keep all their forces in the US until they're strong enough to make a determined try at an invasion (preferrably in the UK or the western coast of France).

Thanks for the report, looks like we'll have to add some dedicated escorts for when the US is transporting directly to North Africa in support to Egypt.

Hi Hartmann,

Could you tell me if this is based on a recent game with the official release version or based on observations from the Beta videos pre-release?

I just ask as we made some changes for the official release version and I was hoping that the issues you highlighted above would have been resolved and that the US AI would give a few coordinated surprises to the Axis.

If it is based on the official release, could you paint a picture of your Sealion timeline as that will help me to narrow down what might have caused the US to not behave as I was expecting.

For example, the dates you landed in the UK and the dates the US entered the war as well as when you were able to fully conquer the UK home island as this will paint a clearer picture for me on what other further tweaks might be necessary.

Thanks,
Hubert

Hubert, this is indeed the impression I got from the vids! I myself avoided Sealion because of this (unitl now).

Considering that the prerelease vids aren't that old, I'm really impressed that you were able to already address the issue before release in reaction to those vids.

I'm playing the UK at the moment, but in my next game I'll have a go at Sealion myself and will report back on my experience.

Thanks for the quick response. It was for transports heading to the UK too. Got one a few hexes from Cornwall as well as others clearly heading towards the UK.
