North Carolina BB with 12x 14"/50cal Mark 7 @30kts

This is what it could look like:

The ship is lengthened by about 75 feet and a 4th triple turret is added. This was an actual design spec for the class.

Nice work
Thanks.

Attached are the files in the native .bmp format for more easily adding them to your scenario.

I was able to find a line drawing for the class. But no data.
Can you provide technical details beyond the extra 75 feet
and gun caliber/number? For example, the engine horsepower.
The official plan designator?

Of course, now that I'm looking for it, I can't find it. As I recall it, this is the "B" design of May-July 1935.

39,000 tons
WL 783ft
Beam 108ft
Draft 36ft
131,000shp
12x 14"/50 Mk B
20x 5"/38cal

Belt 380mm
Deck 133mm
Immunity vs 14" shells @29,000yds

I need to get my hands on Norman Friedman's "U.S. Battleships - An Illustrated Design History" again.

I have a tool from SpringSharp that you can fool around with ship design specs.

I found a good deal of information. The trick is to search for
the North Carolina CLASS instead of the North Carolina SHIP
itself.

There were no less than 35 different designs. I have selected
two variations of the K series for RHS Scenario 129 - a Japan
Enhanced Scenario in which the US faces no Yamato class whatever,
but all the old Japanese battleships have been stripped of their
center turrets and given the power to move at 30 knots. Facing
a fleet of battleships of 30 knots armed with eight 14 inch guns,
the US reply is to build 30 knot ships with twelve 14 inch guns.
The price, however, is less armor than if they built slower ships.
If a player prefers eight 16 inch guns to twelve 14 inch guns,
we permit a conversion to that form one day after each ship appears.

I also had searched by class and that was what I found as well. Fascinating reading. I found multiple sources on the subject. And I have to find my books on the subject.

What I found truly interesting was that the original 12x14" design was a 3x4 arrangement of quad turrets - never before done on a US warship. When the decision was made to up-gun them, the quad 14" were simply replaced by triple 16".
