Maps, units modability

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Maps, units modability

Post by Uxbridge »

Can't find any thread on this. Can the map and units be modable, as I think they were in the previous version? And, if so, are the pictures plain JPG?

Hi

Yes, the game comes with the full Editor just like previous games in the series, though the Editor has more features now and about a quarter of the Manual is devoted to showing you how to design your own campaigns. [:)]

So, tying this into my question about unit recognition and now modding......

Can you take that Panzer IV unit (that is just a "medium tank") and make it a Panzer IV? By naming it and changing it's stats?

If this can be done, how hard is it to accomplish this? Does it take time to change just one unit? I'm coming from a background of not having played any of these games.

Thank you

There is a lot of flexibility and unit types can be renamed, however that unit type name would apply to all countries. Fortunately there are a number of Tank unit types available in the game so for a specific scenario one could name one Panzer IV and use it for the Germans, while calling another M4 Sherman and using it for the Allies.

Doing this does reduce the overall number of types available for each country, but there is some potential for doing this in a scenario.

PS Renaming units and changing their stats is straightforward, the latter is a bit more time consuming but it's still easy to do. [:)]
