Surface Combat TF Won't leave Pearl Harbor

Post by anglonorman »

I have created a TF using the Yorktown CV and 4 other escort ships CA, CL, DD, DD and given them a DH but they have just been sitting in port for the last 3 days and don't move. How come?

All these little subtleties are brutal when you first start playing. But trust me, before long it becomes second nature and you'll be orchestrating scores of TF in an intricate ballet of war.

Give it he AO at least a DD escort if you want to protect it from subs. Not your original question, but worth thinking about.

Also, don't give it a follow order, that will slow down TF 202 in any case. Give it separate orders to take up station in a useful place should TF202 need refueling.

Also, two DDs would be adequate for a merchant convoy, but I never send out a CV TF without at least six.

It's hard to find good fishy sticks anymore, they're all breading and a little inferior fish. It's hard to find frozen clam strips of any sort anymore. What's a lizard to do? I used to pop those things in the oven when I got hungry away from mealtime and mix up some tartar sauce (mayo with sweet pickle relish stirred in).

That recipe for tartar is what I like. The mayo is probably irreplaceable, but you could try kim chi instead of shredded cucumber pickles. Maybe you could replace the mayo with Dijon or at least cut it. Still need something to put it on.

Daviddas, in WitP-AE, as in RL, the devil is in the details. So:

Dock your Replenishment TF, if possible. TK and AO ship types load and unload much more quickly when docked. (At least, so it seems to me.)

When creating a Replenishment TF, consider setting it to "Do Not Unload" so it doesn't unload its cargo at an inopportune time. You never know what may happen on a voyage between distant bases through waters where an enemy might be lurking. If it becomes necessary that you detach the Replenishment TF and shelter it at a nearby port for a few days while your Air Combat TF deals with the enemy, you might not want it to unload its cargo there. Setting it to "Do Not Unload" will insure that it won't.

If the lizard loves tartar sauce, why doesn't it just buy a Big Mac?

Why replenish in a port where lots of docking capacity exists?...perhaps you simply forgot the instructions given the OA. Personally I fill up the Aos and park them around in safe key locations to act as service station where such docking doesn't exist.
