How to "point" non 360-degree mobile Radars in a given direction

Post by Kitchens Sink »

Just a little trick I picked up from the Game. Many may already know it.

Certain radars don't cover 360 degrees (Patriot SAM Systems for example). If the radar or SAM site is a mobile unit, you can point the radar in the direction of threats by doing the following:

1. Turn the system radar on to see which way it is pointing
2. With the unit selected, Go to Unit Orders and enable "Hold Position-Selected Unit"
3. Plot a course for the unit so that the plotted course aligns with where you want one of the edges of the Radar Envelope to end up.
4. Let the game run for a sec or two and the system will "swivel in place" in the direction you want the radar to face.

It takes just a little practice to get it right. You may have to plot the course a few times to get the radar facing just where you want it. Just a small tip for those who didn't know.

There is a function in the game to do this.

Right click unit to be oriented->Scenario Editor->Set Orientation.

Yes. I was speaking about playing as just a "player" and not in editor mode.
