The instant the US declares war on the Euroaxis (or the other way around), both Denmark and Greenland should become US controlled. The same goes for Northern Ireland, if the CW allows for it:

RAW:

When the US goes to war with a major power, you are treated as
having chosen every unchosen entry option aimed at that major power.

7. Occupy Greenland & Iceland - You can declare control of
Greenland and Iceland during any future Allied declaration of
war step. When you do, move any other Allied units in
Greenland or Iceland to the nearest hex their major power
controls. You can only choose this entry option if an Axis major
power has declared war on Denmark and no Axis land unit is in
Greenland or Iceland.

44. US occupies Northern Ireland - You can declare control of
Northern Ireland during any future Allied declaration of war step
that the Commonwealth controls every hex in Northern Ireland
and provided the Commonwealth agrees. Northern Ireland
becomes US controlled. Move any other Allied units there to the
nearest hex their major power controls. From now on, the US
may use the Belfast factory and Belfast becomes a primary
supply source for the US.

The only thing which is different in MWIF, is the fact that in MWIF the action is taken immediately and not being put forward to a later date (that was easier to program).
I think we are looking at a bug here. Anyone with a gamesave?

Be sure you are at war with both Germany and Italy, although most likely you are. This was a bug that's been reported before. What version of MWiF are you using?

I didn't update the game for a while (I was a bit afraid of breaking the Global War game). I'm using MWiF 2.2.0 at the moment, so it may be solved with the last version already.

You may want to wait if there's no other issues, because of the current bug where units that are selected to initiate naval combats are not being disorganized.
