RE: Naval and Defense News
From a game play POV, I guess the F35 would act like a spotter for the B21/52 where the weapons carried by the bomber arsenal appear in the weapons allocation dialog of the F35. Are there any systems in the game that work that way now to experiment with?

Mind on Perdix very small decoy, for those mission types (apparently no more news after these two previously cited May 2016 links):

If they are in range of targets.... They are likely a target also... I believe we should launch swarms of aims from space based platform.....ORIGINAL: Gunner98
This is an predictable upgrade to keep the BUFF usable but I don't think it solves the real problem of getting the ordinance onto the target. The F-35 becomes essentially an ISTAR platform, the B-52 is the 'Bomb Truck' but the missile still need to get through the defences.
Converting B52 to Arsenal plane would increase air to air missiles available to a networked F35 from two to about 100 missiles

Some watchers note that not all TELs are actually errected. At least one on each row. This would confirm that a DF-21 brigade has 12 missiles.

J-20 LRIP series is slowly assembling. Chengdu is buzzing with activity, seeing at least three to five new J-20s flying around the skies. From this, one can assume the production rate of the J-20. As it is now, it looks like Chengdu is producing about three to four J-20 each month.
The first regiment might be ready by late 2017.

RE: Naval and Defense News
I've got to say, the J-20 is one pretty aircraft.
RE: Naval and Defense News
What engine is the J-20 using, officially.
RE: Naval and Defense News
Only know the prototypes was installed AL-31F. There was a pitch analysis by military fans in 2012, which is exactly matched for J-10A and J-11A. The video was banned in China though.ORIGINAL: thewood1

It isn't surprising to still using AL-31F for early production batches, though. The only question is, why the engine nozzles are entirely black.

The Yakovlev Yak-152 trainer aircraft completed its maiden flight on 29 September, the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has announced.
Russia's newest basic trainer aircraft, the Yak-152 is expected to replace the Russian Aerospace Forces' ageing fleet of Yak-52 trainers.
According to UAC the first flight was conducted at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, where the aircraft is being built. Irkut revealed in June that it had a production order for 150 examples of the aircraft.
The Yak-152 has been under development in various forms for at least 15 years, partly in co-operation with China (as the L-7), and is a derivative of the Yak-54 acrobatic aircraft.
Originally selected to the replace the Yak-52 in 2001, progress on the aircraft stalled until 2014 when a contract was awarded to Irkut Corporation to complete its development. The aircraft had been due to make its maiden flight in 2015 and enter service in November 2016, although this timeline quickly slipped.

Hard-kill anti-torpedo defensive system apparently full deployed in USS George H Bush (and apparently the sensors and warning elements lacking the hard-kill elements in other five carriers, not very clear the article on this point):

RE: Naval and Defense News
I would think the continued struggles with high-thrust engines would significantly hamper a 2018 flight. Unless it like the J-20 with under-powered engines
RE: Naval and Defense News
On the contrary IMHO. Short-term, four WS-20 or even WS-18/D-30KP would be enough for a subsonic flying wing bomber. Remember; the B-2 Spirit is powered by four F-118 engines with "mere" 90kn thrust.
High T/W ratio is desirable, but not really important for a subsonic bomber.

RE: Naval and Defense News
Yeah, but I would think the short service life would be a huge factor in a large strategic bomber.

On topic of bombers... Rumors indicate that the development of the airborne launched ASBM has been completed. Let's see if we get pictorial confirmation of it after Zhuhai Airshow.
Technology would be plausible, after all, China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation offered a light weight plane-launched space rocket since the early 2000s...

reading about this system always interesting why it is so hard to pronounce :
"antitorpedo system "Tripwire" , why for journalists it is nameless "anti-torpedo defensive system"?
http://www.apl.washington.edu/departmen ... mmary.html
funny that "Tripwire" have more range than M-15 anti torpedo from "Paket" (range something like MTT torpedo from "Paket") but warhead only 12kg vs 80kg on M-15 (so, fast shortrange underwater missile with very high chances of enemy torpedo destruction vs small "normal" torpedo with small warhead and long range) so zone of enemy torpedo destruction is not very big for "Tripwire" warhead
and with any deviation from ideal course, well, it will miss target
also Fluorine and Lithium as fuel pair ,really, Im sure US Navy sailors will love operate this ...
still, it is small (170x2670 mm , 90kg) long range ATT system

I don't see the point an air-launched ASBM: It seems less flexible to me than the existing DF-21D and DF-26.
