In 1992 we were playing turn based BBS multiplayer games that didn't need a devious AI.

Let me guess: VGA Planets
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

I spent many, many hours playing Conquered Kingdoms back in the day. I would still play it if someone would make it compatible for Windows.

No. I had my own. Two of which were a Napoleonic Empires and a Roman/Ancient Empires game. Alas, we too were buried by the internet and windows.

There is or was a site that provided these games to be played in some way with windows. I released my source code to them.

Ther are indeed alot f good games around now, And for strategy matrix has many of them, but there also were alot f good games inthe past and i am just amazed by all the war games of the 80s on apple2es and c64, which i would still happily play today, in particular Ww2 naval strategy. I am perhaps utterly alone inthis regard but at the moment, i am getting more enjoyment from old games with few or no graphics when it comes to ww2 naval themes. Fortunately there are some current gems which are good for this too such as NWS's Navies at War. Of the old games, the list of SSis producs from the 80s alone is impressive

At least Conquered Kingdoms has stood the test of time. It's still one of the better games of all times. [;)]

I'm surprised it's not at GoG.
