Artillery against AFV

Post by Gribeauval »

I have played the scenario Kamenevo as german against russian AI (using last beta version).
In this scenario, the german gets AT guns and also field guns and the soviet has heavy tanks.

What is the effect of artillery (field guns, mortars) firing HE against tanks ?
Can a field artillery piece using HE rounds immobilize an AFV, shock the crew of the AFV or even destroy the vehicle ?

Regards.

-->Nothing

Can a field artillery piece using HE rounds immobilize an AFV, shock the crew of the AFV or even destroy the vehicle ?
-->Yes but not HE
Against Armored : AP-APCR-APDS-HEAT only [:)]

If you want to know more, Wikipedia is wonderful. [;)]

Do not hesitate to play a scenario at Paulus or BigIvan and try to find something wrong!
Thanks.

Thanks for your explanation, Rico.
Your scenarios are very interesting.

I'm now playing Death at strudanska and I have found a bug (??) with the radios and the OBAs.

In Tigers on the Hunt game, Artillery fire may affect an AFV in a target hex: Open Topped AFV is more vulnerable than closed topped. An AFV can get destroyed, Shocked or immobilized.

Peter,
I'm not sure to understand.
Off-map artillery can immobilize, shock or destroy an AFV.
On-map artillery firing HE can also get the same results ?

Regards.

The on-board artillery is using direct fire vs an AFV. Mortars (support weapon or orndance)can also damage AFVs, especially the open topped like half-tracks or tank destroyers like Marder.
